I went to bed bath and beyond today and I remembered the pastry mat you posted. So I bought one too. I really like it. It is just what I wanted to make that bread. I had a coupon too. Now I just have to remember to buy the yeast. LOL
Didn't see that post, but mine is an OLD "Mylar" roll up mat from Tupperware. Simply quick to wash & store. Got an old cloth one, somewhere, but all that flour makes it too messy to clean. Who's first to share a 10" deep dish pie?
Jasdip I get the bed bath and beyond coupons in the mail regularly. I love those coupons!
We just recently bought 2 of the all latex pillows at Bed bath and beyond and they are wonderful. Latex pillows are just incredibly comfortable I was so happy to find them at BBB and be able to use coupons to get them even cheaper. I bought mine first hubby said no he did not want one. Well he tried mine and then we had to go back to get one for him, I knew that was going to happen of course! I know I will be going back to get at least one for me for the RV too. I need to give away the various memory foam and gel foam ones I tried and hated, made my head sweat so bad I had to sleep with a towel on my pillow. Thank goodness latex sleeps very cool.
Old fixer I am not a pie maker except for chicken pot pies. But I am going to be making that easy bread I posted on the recipe thread as soon as I get the yeast today.
I love my pastry mat, it is silicone and I think one of the best Christmas presents I ever received besides my Kitchen Aid stand mixer. My friend bought it through the Regal Catalogue. I stopped making pastry years ago because I didn't have anywhere to roll it. Now it is so easy. I also had a cloth mat but I didn't like it at all. haha I can make good pastry but I am not so good at the rolling out bit, never can figure out if I am rolling too thin or too thick. I would love to try my hand at making tourtiere or chicken pies to put in the freezer.
Yes, I wish there was a way of knowing if the pastry is too thin or too thick. When I make tarts I do like a nice solid crust, but I can only tell once it's in the tart pan, that it's too thick. Some I took out and re-rolled and I ended up with a few more tarts :-)
What is a picture thread? Pasty rolling thickness? Look at it. Eyes are a wonderful tool. Prefer thinner. Like a self rising pizza, some of the dough is 3X more than the toppings. Ugh.
Here's a link to the latex pillows. I got the king. I will say that there's no indication on the pillows wrapping that there are different firmness levels, however I learned from reading the reviews on the site that they are definitely different. So you want to go and give them a squeeze and try it. I also can tell you if you unzip the cover there's a code right on the pillows I saw from a 1- 6 number, called cavity number. I think the number 1 is the softest and firmness goes up with the numbers. We went through them yesterday and got hubby a 4. I may go back and get one a little firmer and put this one in the RV. These are a great price especially with the coupon.
Absolutely the best sleep ever has been on a latex pillow. I love them. I prefer the solid talalay latex not the shredded ones. A blend of talalay latex with an little Dunlop latex in a solid is a good choice also, they are usually called zoned with a firmer around the edges and a softer center. I know that's way more than anyone wants to know and the reason I know is because I just had a new custom mattress made and I was debating whether I should spend the extra money for the latex.
