Is Anyone Shopping Kmart's Double Coupons??

Wow-they never have double coupons here in FL, but for the next several days almost all Kmarts nationwide are doing double coupons up to and including $2 coupons. Yes, thats right, $2 coupons are doubled to $4!!! I spent 2 hours in Kmart today, and I'm considering going back tomorrow just to see if I missed anything LOL. I bought mostly cleaning supplies and dog and cat treats, but also shampoo, gum, gee-I don't know what else but if it was free or very cheap, I got it. Total before coupons $233-after coupons $93 including a $15 Barbie tennis racket for DD.

Our Kmart was one of those closed down several years ago. I sure do miss it, and now have to go about 55 miles to the nearest one.

I wish I could find food plants this time of year. They sell bareroot in February. I did see onion sets and even some shallot starts, but I grow Egyptian tree onion types so I don't need onion sets. Earlier during the September clearance at a local nursery I got Clematis armandii "Appleblossom", whose buds are slightly pinkish. They are not really very pink but since my neighbor insists on growing this on the fence between us I thought my share could be slightly pink for a little color. His are the greenish-bud offwhite flower type. It was in very rough shape and half off. But C. armandii grows like a weed here and I expect it to recover quickly, if we don't have a record-breaking winter or some other catastrophe. The BLUE FLOWERED form of Lupinus arboreus. This is a big, shrubby Lupine (not really "arboreal") from the beach somewhere south of San Francisco, but it is now widespread on US west coast well north of its original range, and also parts of the British Isles, because it was used for dune erosion control. It is probably extinct in its original range and is declared a weed in its native California, but it is well-entrenched elsewhere. The "blue" (actually a bluish shade of purple) colored form is rare in cultivation; the more common is yellow. Half price because they didn't sell!! Cordyline indivisa, a broad-leaved species from the mountains of the North Island of New Zealand, and also on the west coast of the South Island. Doesn't branch much and has big, wide leaves. Looks very tropical (most of its kin are in fact tropical, typically from Australasia and Polynesia). Marked down from $18 to $7 because they didn't move all year. This is a rare plant in my part of the world too.

Dana - I have swollen buds also on MM. I was worried cuz the roots were so short. The other Peaces have some some big swollen buds also. I have about 40 roses arriving next month plus some other perennials. I'm planting a hillside so DH doesn't have to mow there. I'm lucky; have 2.5 acres...lots of room. I am getting Country Dancer also along with some other great Bucks. Yesterday was great outside - 69 degrees!; cut down all my clematis and cleaned out some hydrangea beds. Now talking snow again tonight and tomorrow. What a tease! Also forgot ...have lots of clematis to offer also. They can be white or purple..they spring up all over the place. -t

Yes Annie! Don't bargin shop for cat food. Cats have tender tummies and do best with one flavor of food. One local grocer probably thinks I'm nuts because the only thing I buy in his store is catfood... and I clean off his shelf of my cat's favorite when I'm there. Sometimes when people ask how many cats I have I tell them just one but he is big and very hungry. I buy all my cat litter at Walmart because I can get 100 lbs for $10... yup big kitty (most regulars know I have several small adorable kitties with names like Annie and Jessy). I so seldom use coupons. I've made the cashier shake her head when I turn to the customer behind me and give away the register coupons. I think of myself as a value shopper. If a product has quality and I'll enjoy eating it then I buy. Even being single I'll buy a 10lb roast and cut it into usable portions. I like beans and rice so my grocery budget is not big enough to worry about. Meat and fresh fruit seem to be the big hitters on my bill... and of course beer is almost a budget of it's own. We have a super bargin meat market 20 minutes down the road but I hate using that much time and gas. When I do go I fill the freezer... beef tenderloin is currently $7/lb, lake perch $9/lb, any kind of beef steak between $3-4/lb, ground chuck normally $2/lb. They probably only make pennies a pound but they sell meat by the ton everyday. I've been working with a very nice lady that enjoys coupons so I give her my Sunday paper. Last week she saved $11 with them. She enjoys it so I was careful not to rain on her parade but when I asked what she bought she said "junk food and a couple things I normally buy". I'm a terrible shopper and usually just buy the same things over and over. I noticed I now have three bottles of my favorite vinegar in the pantry. At least I've done a fair job eating down the pantry and freezer so I can see what I have in there. Just picked another quart of tomatoes out of my garden. People were telling me a month ago to pull up the vines but they keep flowering and putting out new tomatoes so I'll hold back until the frost kills them. Hard to beat "free" food. : ) lyra

I used the Grocery Game for a few months and saw a significant savings. It was time consuming cutting the coupons and creating a filing system, but once I found a system that worked, I had it made. I don't have alot of room to stockpile like they advocate, but I saved alot of money. There were many times I used the coupons and got $200 worth of groceries for about $20. The drawback of the grocery game is it is time consuming. I'd have to go to the store to buy the Sunday Paper, clip the coupons, file them - all on a Sunday, then I only had until Tuesday to go shopping. This was ok when I wasn't working, but once I started a FT job, something had to give. I just didn't have time for it anymore, so I gave up my membership. I think if there is something available online free and in advance like xamsx noted above, I would be more inclined to use that. The Grocery Game (aka Teri's list) was just too rushed for me.

I'd have to drive 30 miles to get to the closest one, but if I had as many coupons as you did Lisa, I think it'd be worth it! You did good!!

Wow! Nearest Kmart is 45 miles away. I usually shop Wallyworld cause their prices are a bit lower, but for double coupons I'd be heading in Kmarts direction!

Here's a list if anyone wants to check on their store. I read somewhere online that if your store isn't participating you are not out of luck. Ask them to double your coupons. If they say 'no' call the kmart 800# then and there and they will call the store and tell them to go ahead and do it.

First try looking up and calling your store and asking them. If they say no, call the 800# (look on their website) and see what they say.

HUH--my husband is the SAM at a K-Mart distribution center and I didn't know about this. You would think he would want me to save money!! Of course, our local stores here in NC don't seem to be participating in this. I've even tried to get my husband to bring home the flyers ahead of time but he always seems to forget. I always seem to miss the good deals.

Went to another Kmart just for a look/see of anything I might have missed. Total was $60 before coupons, $16 after coupons plus A $1 on your next order coupon popped out of the machine. I had 9 bags of stuff. If anyone has boys, look thru the Hanes underwear section. The package with 7 in them with a picture of a boy with a baseball cap rang up for 70??!!

After reading this, I checked the list. My KMart isn't on it. So I called the store and the clerk said she "thought" they were doing it, and if I came in and shopped, to bring the items to Customer Service. The girl who checked me out didn't even know about it but somehow made it work!

I spoke to a girl that I know who works there and she didn't know about it either. I only had a few coupons and they didn't have some of the items, but I ended up with a saving of $8.50.

I hope they will continue this, and maybe other stores will also.

If they told you 'no' try again. I copied this from another board-
I called Kmart's customer service last night after reading the thread about the double coupons (where had I been????) and asked if my store was included in the double coupons. She said that all stores have now been included. I told her that my store didn't know anything about it (which wasn't entirely true but I wanted to know what the response would be). She told me that they should know by now because of a major issue with it and all stores were now included and the managers should have gotten the numerous emails telling them they are included. She said if I had any problems to have the store call customer service. She also gave me her name as a reference and said she logged my call. HTH
