Nothing!
Been in condo for 5 years, and no trick or treaters!

I have to get to a store in the morning. I have only about 50 kids now, whereas it used to be about 150 or more. The school has a Pumpkin Party which is supposed to take the place of trick or treating, but there are some hard-core little goblins out there. At least most of them have a parent or older sibling with them these days.

For the 3rd year now I'm giving out cans of pop. I got them cheap (cheap for here - $1.99 for a 12 pack). The kids love it & I'm not tempted to drink any of it like I would be tempted to eat candy if I bought it. Last year we got about 65 kids. I have 72 cans of pop. If I run out I will raid my pantry for pudding cups or granola bars.

I dunno if I want to say what I'm giving out now! LOL
Popcorn balls and when and if I run out (which I doubt) I have cans of pop too.

We had our towns Trunk n Treat last night and the kids had a ball. Jammer and I handed out candy for hours non stop. It was so much fun! It was planned for Wednesday because Halloween night is our last home football game. Madisyne told her Mom that she wanted to knock on a door and say Trick or Treat. So the twins are going to wear their costumes and knock on a few door before going to the game. I plan to have something special for them if I can find anything at WalMart tomorrow. I live out of town and never have trick or treaters out here.

We have a huge bag of Tootsie Roll Pops and Milky Ways. But, we haven't had trick R Treaters in 2 years we have been here.

I did up 65 bags of candy, usually get between 25 to 35. But the yard is all decorated for Halloween this year, so DH is worried we will get more than the normal run.

We haven't had trick-or-treaters in several years. The youngest kid in the country neighborhood is in middle school, and MUCH too sophisticated. I do have a small bag of snickers, just in case.

NO. I had a new costume I was working on but the face plate didn't work our. DH royally messed up. I used almost a 1/2 tank last night looking for a replacement mask to use as a base. Finally found one at the all night Walmart 30 miles away. Left the house at 7 and got back after midnight. In a way it might be a blessing in disguise. I hadn't planned it out as well as I should have so DH has given his word he'll help me get it better than ever. Now I have to figure out what to wear tonight. I'm thinking Clown. Did the Witch thing earlier in the month and did the Pirate thing the other night. I've been wearing clip in horns most of the month. I'm not in the mood for facial hair or latex applications and I don't want to be loaded down with weaponry so I'm thinking greasepaint would be easiest. Driving in those dang clown shoes can be a bear though. ;-)

Online somewhere there's a list of treats that children don't want to receive. I'm giving out about 4 things on that list. Bought before I read it of course.

So it's a mixture along with novelties. Minature snickers, M&Ms, lollipops, bubble gum, candy. I had bought a huge bag of chocolates and noticed (when testing them out) that some had white spots. So this morning at 6am they were replaced with another batch. Lucky for me they're still edible! teehee

We used to get bunches so kids trucked into our neighborhood that was loaded with kids already. Now most of the kids go to the mall or the city swimming pool for parties. So for the past two years there have been just about no kids so I have stopped doing it at all. I will just turn my light off and go sit across the street with my neighbor who brings her fire pit out and we sit around and chat. She still does the candy thing for the few kids that wander down our street.

Almost...I have to run to the store or get Denny to, for ground beef for the chili.

Maybe some tomato juice too..

The house is almost done. (nothing like doing fall house cleaning a week before a party.

We don't have trick or treaters out here much...but expecting at least 50 guests from family and church. We have been having great weather and it is supposed to be really nice tonight too. (70's yesterday)So I think a lot will show up.

I'm setting up a spot this year to take family pictures again...They were all hoping we would do that again. It was a hit last year. I've bought pumpkins and some pretty silk fall leaves. I'm planning on filling my old wheel barrow with the pumpkins. I bought some mums but they are all done flowering so I won't be using them...Mr. scarecrow will be out there along with a couple sections of my old weather picket fence. It's fun.

Lots and lots of wood on the fire pile , so we should have a big one. I'm afraid it will char some of the branches on the tree out there..but it won't be the first time.

I'm excited....

I bought some candy, but I am going to dinner with a friend at 6:30 so I don't know ow many kids I'll get. I hope no one gets mad at me for leaving home.

I've got big, pumpkin-shaped, fancy homemade cookies to give the children I know.

Boxes and boxes of Little Debbies for the other neighborhood kids.

And a bowl of Tootsie Roll Pops for the gang members (adults) who drive out from the city and demand candy.

My neighborhood used to be teeming with kids. Then it got to just a handful of the nearest neighbors. Then hardly a child to e seen. Like Nita we stopped about 2 years ago.

I miss it. I used to love to give out candy to all the little ones in their costumes.

I remember one year I was getting ready to go out later and I'd just gotten my witch outfit on wig and full make-up. The doorbell rang and there were about half a dozen children on the porch between the ages of 3 and 7. I opened the door with my basket of candy. The older kids shrieked and stepped back. But the cutest little girl of about 3 at the most all dressed up in pink fairy princess finery stepped closer and puffed out her little chest and demanded I "come down here." I kneeled down to get to her eye level. She leaned in, studied me for a moment,crossed her little arms, stuck out her little chin and proclaimed, "dat face not weal". LOL

This is the first time in 50 years that we are not going to participate at all.Turning off all my lights in the front part of the house,and i'll curl up with my blankie on the sofa.This Chemo is kicking my butt,and i don't feel like being bothered.

I don't know if we will see any trick or treaters. We have had as many as 200 when the neighborhood was young. Now all the kids are grown up. DH bought one of those big bags of treats at Costco, most of which I don't like so won't be tempted.

In the 40s and 50s, my very favorite treat was our neighbor's popcorn balls. YUM. I'd love some now.

Back then, no one worried about only pre wrapped manufactured candies. My mother would make up a waxed paper sandwich bag of a variety of candies for each kid, and it was quite a haul. Almost nothing was wrapped back then. Our worst treat every year was a pear from the lady on the corner who picked her tree for Halloween economies. Not particularly good pears. And no one gave out full size candy bars at all.

We had a grand total of 11 kids last year and 7 the year before. We have some chocolate bars here just in case....but we chose ones that we like too.
