How's this for a starter: Ape food on a stick-Grapes and Bananas on a stick, lightly freeze them and have chocolate sauce and nuts for dipping

Project Runway is about to start! This is it!

Wild Zebra Sandwiches - Use a slice of light and a slice of dark bread for each sandwich. Stuff with your choice of turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, etc. Cut the sandwich into 4 or 5 strips, each about ½ to 1 inch wide.

Carefully flip over the first strip so the different-colored bread shows. Skip the second strip, then turn over the third. Keep going, skipping every other strip. You now have a striped sandwich!

Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwiches cut into animal shapes with cookie cutters.

Bananas for the monkeys, Peanuts "elephant snacks", Broccoli "treetops" for the giraffes, Cheetos "tiger tails"

Hershey Hugs are striped like zebras

Animal Crackers of course!

Ostrich - Chicken Nuggets

Trail Mix

Jungle Juice

2 (12 oz.) cans frozen cranberry juice concentrate
1 1/2 c. orange juice
1 1/2 pts. club soda or seltzer
Orange and lemon slices

Freeze orange and lemon slices in ring of water. Thaw cranberry juice concentrate. Combine with orange juice and chill. Add club soda or seltzer just before serving. Add orange and lemon ice ring for garnish. 18 servings.

Here's where the fun starts... place a piece of dry ice in a sealed plastic container. Punch or cut holes in the container lid. Before serving drop the container into the punch bowl. Very cool effect!

Variation: Smoldering Swamp Water - Float the dry ice container in a green beverage such as 7-UP

It must be book fair time.

I think a simple fruit and veggie tray with a leafy lettuce or some other greens would be healthy. You can always wash some small plastic toys and put them in strategic places, but I don't think that would be necessary. A tablecloth and themed centerpiece will go a long way.

Maybe you could make some meatballs or other small meat pieces like the little sausages. You could give it a name like Lion's Feast or something like that. Or you could sort of make a joke and name it something like 'Lost Tourist' or whatever they call someone on safari.

Our book fair is this week. We have the same theme. I'm not actually working on it, but I did help someone attach the burlap on the cardboard for the display.

Animal crackers could be scattered across the table as part of the decorations, or frost cupcakes and top with an animal cracker.

You might somehow find a way to use this; maybe a large poster or small table decorations, etc.

Easy Elephant Stew

1 medium sized elephant
1 ton coarsely chopped broccoli
Salt and pepper to taste.
2 African rabbits (optional)

You will need a very large kettle. Cut elephant into bite size pieces. Add broccoli and seasonings. Cover with water and cook over an open fire for about two weeks. If unexpected guests show up, the rabbits may be added (but only if necessary because nobody likes to find a hare in his stew.) Serves approximately thirty five hundred people.
