Very nice. I guess he needs a new collar...unless you go back for Glimmer! Thats great that he liked the car ride. My cat hates the car. He has kidney disease and makes frequent vet visits. Still not used to the car. Bat is very nice looking. Hope he sleeps at bedtime!!

He's so cute! Wish we didn't have allergy problems in my house. I would love to see Georgy and a kitten. I know you are going to have such fun playing with him.

LoL @ Lisa...yes, that was the ONLY color in that size of halter at the store we stopped at. Yes, he will be getting a new one. Probably red to match the leash. We want to socialize him to go for rides in the car, and take walks on a leash. He seems pretty much up for it!

Oh lordy, he's sleeping now, but I just KNOW he'll be up at 3 am terrorizing us!

He has a bit of an upper respiratory infection from being at the pound, but we got medicine from them, and a voucher for a vet exam, so I'll call in the morning for ten days-2 weeks from now after he finishes the medicine. I'll also call the pound to schedule his neutering for right after that.

He's ALREADY a spoiled kitty!

I've seen 2 kitties in the yard recently...when they see me in the window they leave...dh would shoot me if I tried to get them...and I won't, but it's hard! (we had cats for our entire married life..43 years)...it's hard to go "cold turkey!

We have 4 black cats and our smallest one is Shadow... male. He has a color that exact color... you know real guys can pull off that color! hahahahahah

Our adopted cat is also black....HE adopted US. He had perfect manners from the moment he stepped in the house. He's an indoor only cat....with all of his claws and our furniture and carpeting is all in tact. :-)

He is so cute!! Thank you for rescuing :). I am fostering four black kittens right now. It will be hard to have them go to new homes. We rescued them at four weeks old and they are four months now. I've become quite attached to them. We had 15 to start with.

He's gonna be a good one. I can tell. And I am sure Bat will enjoy his new home. Welcome Bat!

I hope you'll think about going back for Glimmer. A 6-year-old cat has much less of a chance of getting adopted than a kitten. She and Bat could keep each other company--and I guarantee at some point you'd be grateful for her laid-back demeanor. :-)

PS: One caution....I've never taken my cats for rides in the car except in a carrier going to the vet, but if you do that please be aware that it's very risky to get out of a car without the cat slipping out too--and just as difficult to get back in without the cat escaping.

In the vet parking lot once, I saw an older woman crying because she'd taken her cat in the car without a carrier, and when she got out of the car the cat flew out and disappeared into the woods. "I got out so carefully!" she said.

That is very good advice Alisande. When he goes in the car, he will always be on a leash, with the other end attached to something. No, I don't want to lose him!

I'm a little worried, because he hasn't eaten but maybe two bites of wet food, and that wasn't until after I actually put some on his mouth. Won't touch the kitten food kibble at all. I know he's got to be hungry. Do you think it could be because of his upper resp. infection? I gave him his medicine this morning with no problem. 9 more days to go...

Thanks for adopting Bat. My black beauty named Luna is now on my bed grooming herself.

The URI (upper resp. infection) can cause a lack of appetite and many other things. I've learned a lot about it since I rescued a mama and her kittens weeks ago. Hope after a few days on the meds, Bat starts to feel better. Google feline URI for more information.

Bat is just precious. Thanks for going to rescue him. I hope he gets back to good health soon. Give him some loving for me. Black cats are my favorite.

granlan, thank you! I've been so worried. And, he's very quiet, which when I googled is another symptom. He is drinking water, and urinating, so that is good.

Ahhhhhhh I wish we could.

Bat (aka Doodlebug, aka Munchkin, aka Babyboy) is doing MUCH better today. He's eaten several times (he prefers dry food over wet) and chased the laser pointer all over. I took him out on his leash this morning to the apt. manager's office. He did ok for a little bit, then I had to carry him. Had to clip his toenails last night. He was feeling so much love he was making bread on our heads arms, shoulders, legs...you get the picture.

I do hope thag you'll get a small carrier. He will be so much safer and comfortable when traveling or visiting the vet. The carrier should be strapped down with a seat belt when in the vehicle, too.

I love that he doesn't mind being on a leash for 'outings '. Be sure to keep posting pictures!

I will take more when his eye isn't runny. He's feeling quite chipper today. Such a love.
