This is just one more crib recall, last year something like 3 major companies had recalls, and at least one in 2007. It's scary when you think of how many cribs are out there and people don't know about the hazards. You may do a search to find out which companys have recalled cribs. This problem was pointed out to me by my DDIL and DS since they are expecting a son in March. Sue

roarh, This doesn't answer your paint question, but thought you might want to know this. The CPSC just came out with new standards for cribs in June, 2011. If you have an older crib, I don't think it can meet those standards. You can do a search of "latest crib regulations" and go into the thread on updated standards if you are interested. One of the many changes is no more drop sides on cribs, because of child deaths from crib sides dropping and catching the child (suffocation). Everything seems to be in flux right now as manufacturers are trying to retool and get their products up to date. The site gives a regulation number to check if the ones being sold meet current guidelines. You cannot even legally sell secondhand or new, any dropside cribs, but there is much more than the dropside involved.
