eye liner question

I need a eye liner that stays on all day. I also am finding most of them I try make my eyes water. Any suggestions would be great. I don't mind

spending more if it will stay on.

Thanks

Judy

I have gotten allergic to eye liner too, so I have quit using it. You might try Almay or another hypoallergenic eye liner.

Liner leak question - water under liner now
Q
Comments (12)
Thanks waterbug_guy and mike_il! That's I'm here - you folks are smart. The events of the past few hours have certainly shown me that you are both correct about the source of the water. I don't know what the heck I thought I was doing with my testing, must have read my yardstick wrongly. At daybreak tomorrow, I will be digging out a cubic yard of pea gravel into two large trashcans and get to the manifold at the bottom of the filter pond. No doubt, it's leaking at up there. All of my plumbing is now exposed, so that's not it. It's leaking like a pig now when the pump is running. I can't even get the waterfall to flow with the pump on, put I but my hand in front of the pump and it's pulling water, so all that water is getting underneath. A close look with a flashlight tonight showed damp ground all around the upper pond at the base of the dirt build-up. This explains a lot of things - wet vegetation around the pond, a shrub that died where the water is accumulating, and the waterfall has been a bit less powerful and tonight it"s just a trickle (pump off now). Big question: I've always run my pump 24/7. Will the fish be okay for 24 hrs with no aerating waterfall, or should I go out and buy a fountain or take my oxygen tank from my welding kit and bubble some O2 up? I will post some pictures tomorrow so you can all see my leak.

Quick question about pond liners
Q
Comments (6)
Hey there, Aggierose. I haven't used all the different types of liners available. I have had to research and ask questions just as you are doing. While I respect Gary's opinion and recommendations, I would hesitate to use the fiberglass tarps myself because of all the critters that seem to use my pond. The raccoons and the muskrat would have torn up the tarp very quickly. You might have tree roots and rocks that could eventually cause problems. I went with the 45mil EPDM made by Firestone 11 years ago and have been quite happy with it for my 1000 gallon pond. It seem to be the most popular and cost effective way to go but others have different opinions based on their experiences. On my first liner pond I got a 45mil EPDM liner on sale at a pet store at the end of the season for half price. Since then I have used roofing rubber (45mil Firestone EPDM) from Menards. Just about any home improvement store that sells roofing material sells the same thing. It is frequently on sale at a reasonable price. If there is a lot of construction near you, you might be able to get a bargain price for a left over piece. There has been some discussion as to toxicity from the roofing material on this forum but I have not come across any post that claims it was harmful in any way. I have seen references to roofing material that was treated for resistance to moss and molds but I haven't actually seen any EPDM that included that for sale. There have been numerous threads on this topic on this forum so you might want to do a search. As for the underlayment, it depends on the soil composition. I have almost pure clay with no rocks and the tree roots grow around the pond rather than at it. Since the drainage is really bad, the materials I tried out rotted very quickly and I wound up using none at all. The smell was awful.

Questions about Vinyl Jamb Liners for This Situation
Q

An alternative occurs to me: instead of messing with the vinyl jambs (which sounds lik you'd be permanently altering the sashes, too) consider whether you could make one of the side trim pieces on each window removeable. That way you could pivot the lower sash out whenever necessary. I have some of my windows upstairs perpetually apart (long complicated story) and when it's time to clean them, I just pull the sash out and sit on the windowsill, duck under the meeting rail and there's the outside of the upper sash right in front of my face. (Of course, I have previously removed the storm/screen!) I like this arrangement so well that my long-term plan is to re-install the trim with little recessed screw grommet thingies so that I can pop them off at will. This may not work for your windows, but it might give you other ideas. L

I assume you have been using liquid eyeliner. If so, would you consider switching to pencil?

I have used a Mac eyeliner pencil for some time now, which lasts well for me and has not caused my eyes to water.

I gave up liquid eyeliner, too. I like a Revlon pencil, and also a couple by Avon.

I have used both pencil and liquid, maybe I just can't wear it. Sigh.....

The last few years I've noticed that when I use makeup, my eyes burn and water. I've changed eyeliners 2 or 3 times with the same results. Then one day I decided not to use eye shadow and the burning, itching, watering stopped. Who knew?

Mary Kay eye liners are great.
I used the liquid for a long time but recently switched to the pencil. Both are long lasting.

Are you sure it's the liner?
The problem could be the mascara, shadow or even your skin care products.

Good luck!

Try Stila smudgepot and a liner brush. Lasts all day. I've also heard good things about the Bobbi Brown gel that was mentioned.

I use a very, very thin paintbrush to apply mine. I dip it in oil free makeup remover to get it wet, then I use the eyeshadow of my choice, to line my eyes. I also use Mac and Sephora pencils.

I use Bare Minerals and Meow Minerals powder liner and shadow. I mix it with a small amount of water which sets the powder and makes it easier to draw the liner. (I'm currently using Meow Cosmetics Feliners)

I also use Urban Decay eyeshadow primer as a base - it is THE best stuff I've ever used to prevent shadown creasing and keeping liner on.

I like Avon Glimmersticks, they go on easily and don't make me itchy or watery!

I use the Bare Minerals powder liners as well, but I use Visine to wet the brush with. Something about the salts in the Visine "sets" the color and helps it to last longer. I've noticed one or two colors that I'm allergic to, but for the most part my sensitive eyes like them just fine :-)
