Please say some prayers for Granny.

My only living grandparent is in ICU now with a myriad of problems from dehydration, kidney,pancreas,gallbladder problems, heart problems and possibly brain swelling. She is in critical condition and the doctors don't really know exactly what is wrong or how to fix it. She has been in there since monday and gone from bad to worse. Please put us on your prayer list. I know the power of prayer has worked for others.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Karen. It's quite understandable that you'd be feeling a lot of strain and anxiety with all this going on. I'm glad the doctor had the foresight to do that MRI, and not just discount the pain as being a pinched nerve. In a time where sometimes our healthcare feels impersonal, it's good to see they CAUGHT it so they can fix it. Obviously, if you need to vent/expel some of that anxiety, vent away! What a terrible accident! Her neck was broken? All this glass? She's lucky to be *alive*! So glad they are able to save her sight. Was she wearing a seatbelt? (Abdominal bruising?)

I will certainly say a prayer that she does well. I know how you feel because I'm watching those around me get old and I know losses are on the way. In August, I lost my Aunt Wanda, with whom I was especially close. I really miss our frequent and lengthy phone conversations. DH's father had a mild stroke yesterday (he is 92), and we don't know what will happen when he leaves the hospital. My parents are in their 80s, and my 4 remaining aunts are 83, 88, 89 and 93. All my uncles are gone....

Thanks everyone. We saw her again today and she is still being given lots of meds through the IV's. She is still unresponsive and they don't know what is causing her mental confusion. Her kidneys are working slighly better so it is a waiting game now. She is still listed as critical. Could go one way or another.
