Prayers Needed for a Friend's Final Journey

Brenda Palmer has cancer.

She's still at home but her husband Randy has gotten her a hospital bed & is getting a baby monitor so he can hear no matter where he is in the house.

He has called hospice, & Brenda is getting morphine for pain.

Prayers & good thoughts for a peaceful journey & for strength for her family would be appreciated.

No longer trapped in a "Body of Death". That wonderful man you loved is now set free!!! Yes you miss him for who he was. Yes you miss him for who you were together. Yes you are lonely for a time. But, "JOY COMMETH IN THE MORNING". Use your faith now for your own restoration. God is not through with you yet. Reinvest in your own happiness. Not the same life but a different path this time. New adventures, new conversations, new creativity, new interests, new perspectives, new vision - I pray these things for you. I pray your faith be magnified a hundred fold. OK, well, I went to see Mom at teh new SNF and doing alright considering. First night she had a roommate that kept the TV on all day and night LOUD and she yelled...So Mom got moved to the room next door. Well, her roommate there would yell and throw things at people. She has stuffed animals and squishy toys ( I think she is an Alzheimers or demetia patient). That morningn i went to visit my Mom woke up to her nightgown being soaked in water. Teh lady threw water at someone else and Mom was in the line of fire. It was unnerving for my Mom. It's not like she can get up and walk away. So, we got her moved to a different room where the two other gals are dialysis patients--so it's quiet. My sister says that my Mom had struck up a good repore with the one so it's looking way better. Basically its the general care, the getting up every day with PT in a wheelchair and maybe outside...sometimes to a stand...Her recovering knee is a non weight bearing one for now. I asked if she wanted me to bring her Bible, some magazines, etc., but she told me they would get stolen. UGGHH. So, I'll work on her. She thought she had already been there for a few weeks. I guess it would feel like an eternity if I were in her shoes. I've got to get her focused on something else to help pass the time faster. Good thing too is next week she has two different doctor appts here so it will get her out for part of the day and break up the monotony. And after the 4-8 weeks is done she gets to do this all over again. but prayerfully without dealing with a quack if any of us can prevent it. I'm hoping somehow that we can get this new surgeon to do the knee replacemetn of the knee replacement. Anyway, continue to pray for her. I'd like to see my sisters, brother and I do at least a 5K with my Mom just because. Thanks so much. Love, Jules

Well, it took longer than expected because I had developed two anuerysms since last week, but we were able to seal them all off. Doc said I will be blurry for several days and there may be some dark specs but they would go away. Well, the blurries have already gone and so far no dark specs. Of course the eye is sore and the whole left side of my head is achy, but I can handle that. Of course I have been driving around and doing more than I should, but he gave me no real restrictions other than not reading alot. I am stopping after this post and headed out to plant plants and sow more seeds in my mini greenhouse trays. I am having so much fun even though I am gardening mainly in pots. We are still house searching with the main problem being obtaining a mortgage with me as the principal. If God intends it to happen it will. Thank you so much for the prayers. My biggest problem is that I can not stand to be still and the minute he stapped my head lightly into the equipment I started hacing anxiety problems as I knew I could not move. Before it was over I was ready to scream and my legs were tapping etc trying to let myself know I could move without moving my eyes. I survived and now face cataract surgery sometimes in the next few months on my right eye and within six months on the left. At least I will have some time off to do things. Thanks everyone. Linda

I'm sorry Dorothy. Tough loss for all. Since Noe is in low income, can they not adjust her rent to her income only? Are there any organizations that you can do the "leg" work on to get her some assistance/counseling for the changes in her life?

I send my good thoughts and prayers.

May she have a reasonably pain-free passing ... and, despite the emotional pain involved with leave-taking, may both she and her loved ones feel comfortable with the idea that this part of their living is complete and they can move on with peace filling their hearts.

Oh, this is so tough - I went through this when my husband died. He wanted to die at home, with me taking care of him - that is how it was. My prayers will DEFINENTLY go up for Brenda and her family.

Sylvia, as someone who has lost two close, close friends in the last nine years I can sure understand your wishes for your friend's peaceful journey home.

Thanks to you all.

I just got an email from Cindy, a co-worker of Randy's who's managing the schedule for meals, & she said that Brenda had taken a bad turn, & they're working to get her re-hydrated & stable.

Family members are coming in as quickly as they can.

Please keep them all in your thoughts & prayers.

One of Randy's co-workers has organized a schedule for people to bring meals, & some of us have taken over linens for the hospital bed.
