Prayers Needed for a Friend's Final Journey

Brenda Palmer has cancer.

She's still at home but her husband Randy has gotten her a hospital bed & is getting a baby monitor so he can hear no matter where he is in the house.

He has called hospice, & Brenda is getting morphine for pain.

Prayers & good thoughts for a peaceful journey & for strength for her family would be appreciated.

OK, well, I went to see Mom at teh new SNF and doing alright considering. First night she had a roommate that kept the TV on all day and night LOUD and she yelled...So Mom got moved to the room next door. Well, her roommate there would yell and throw things at people. She has stuffed animals and squishy toys ( I think she is an Alzheimers or demetia patient). That morningn i went to visit my Mom woke up to her nightgown being soaked in water. Teh lady threw water at someone else and Mom was in the line of fire. It was unnerving for my Mom. It's not like she can get up and walk away. So, we got her moved to a different room where the two other gals are dialysis patients--so it's quiet. My sister says that my Mom had struck up a good repore with the one so it's looking way better. Basically its the general care, the getting up every day with PT in a wheelchair and maybe outside...sometimes to a stand...Her recovering knee is a non weight bearing one for now. I asked if she wanted me to bring her Bible, some magazines, etc., but she told me they would get stolen. UGGHH. So, I'll work on her. She thought she had already been there for a few weeks. I guess it would feel like an eternity if I were in her shoes. I've got to get her focused on something else to help pass the time faster. Good thing too is next week she has two different doctor appts here so it will get her out for part of the day and break up the monotony. And after the 4-8 weeks is done she gets to do this all over again. but prayerfully without dealing with a quack if any of us can prevent it. I'm hoping somehow that we can get this new surgeon to do the knee replacemetn of the knee replacement. Anyway, continue to pray for her. I'd like to see my sisters, brother and I do at least a 5K with my Mom just because. Thanks so much. Love, Jules

I finally had time to check in again here and thank you all for taking time to read and respond to me and to Jenni. They did her surgery Friday and found two separate cancers which they believe hadn't matastisized. Good at first base. Then she went through the first of surgery recovery in record time. She's in the hospital for probably another week and then we'll see what the morrow brings. She will have to go through chemo, and has no one but her two brothers to help her and we all live a long way away. These three days a week I've been down there and then two for my DH have been really hard on us. We want things to be normal again, but they can't be....it's just beginning another stage. I thank you for your support, thoughts and prayers, my friends. I draw strength from you all, and I know Jenni does from your prayers too. I'll be here as I can be.

I say prayers for everyone in that situation whenever I am reminded of them. Like I said, I was only at the blood center and the families and friends all touched my life. It was scary at times, especially when he had a fungal infection that was not responding to antibiotics. His flesh was coming off and they didn't know what it was until the culture came back. Once they got the right stuff treating it, everything turned around. That was the infection that delayed his transplant, but as I said, he is nearly ready to return home now and was able to drive out for the day on Thanksgiving. It was great. I wish I could be there in person so you could see and feel the hope. I'll send all I can by angel wings.

My special thoughts going out to your Terry for a successful outcome. I hope all is well this morning. I spent yesterday with a cousin whose husband had a liver transplant about 9 years ago. He has done wonderfully and is working, leading a normal life. Yes, miracles do happen.

May she have a reasonably pain-free passing ... and, despite the emotional pain involved with leave-taking, may both she and her loved ones feel comfortable with the idea that this part of their living is complete and they can move on with peace filling their hearts.

Oh, this is so tough - I went through this when my husband died. He wanted to die at home, with me taking care of him - that is how it was. My prayers will DEFINENTLY go up for Brenda and her family.

Sylvia, as someone who has lost two close, close friends in the last nine years I can sure understand your wishes for your friend's peaceful journey home.

Thanks to you all.

I just got an email from Cindy, a co-worker of Randy's who's managing the schedule for meals, & she said that Brenda had taken a bad turn, & they're working to get her re-hydrated & stable.

Family members are coming in as quickly as they can.

Please keep them all in your thoughts & prayers.

Sometimes I think that the boundary between this life and whatever lies beyond is less hard and fast than ordinarily we think.

One of Randy's co-workers has organized a schedule for people to bring meals, & some of us have taken over linens for the hospital bed.

Thanks for your continuing prayers, thoughts, & good wishes.

oh this just happen to my dear friend's bil...he passed away peacefully and in no pain...
