My red headed baby..isn't she beautiful?

I planted this baby last summer. It didn't turn red last year...but I think it is beautiful this year...I think it will be a real piece of art work as it gets bigger.

Beautiful. This is my favorite time of year with all the trees changing color. So pretty.

Mantis - The hybridizer is James Hall - Mljomo on the Lily Auction. I got Scarlet Angel from him and he sent me his Red Head. I actually like it better than Scarlet Angel. James has a lot of intros now and usually sends those as bonuses. I think they all start with the word Buddy's. I've gotten several of his auctions over the years. Thanks Steve! I may very well do what you say. That would correspond perfectly with about Dec/Jan for me. I just worry about the space! Hobby, the top is misleading. The tree is potted in just the dirt that was in there from growing my veggies supplemented with lots of perlite and Oscomote plus. I had a little leftover 5-1-1 from my last pot and decided to add it as a top layer. Luckily I bought a dolly this year. I am going to get a piece of plywood to use as a ramp leading them directly into my sunroom. I can also easily get them into the kitchen through another door. Mary, I am less than an hour east of DC...anytime you want, come on down!!

I had to share this photo of Lyon's Red Rocket - bought it at a local AV show last November. It's window grown, as are all my plants. It shapes beautifully, and even though the flowers are large with multiple blooms on each stem, they hold their heads up high. This one is fast becoming one of my very favorites.

what kind of tree is it Patti? This weather has sure brought out alot of red leaves here too. So pretty before they drop.

It's one of the Red Maples...there are several different kinds..I'm not sure which it is.

It was bought for the county park Denny works at but they didn't want it because it had a scar on the trunk from one of those plastic ties the put around them to tie them to the pole that is in the pot. It had gotten too tight..they thought it might die. But you can't hardly see the mark this year...it seems to be growing out of it.

I'm glad we gave it a chance.

Oh I have two red maples and they are still green. They are babies too - only one year old. I sure hope they are this pretty when they change color.

I had a red maple just outside my kitchen window when we lived in Ohio. It was a darker red than yours. Yours is so bright and beautiful. When I bought my baby red maple, it was just a stick with two leaves, but it sure grew into a huge beauty.
