What's for dinner 10/19?

This month is going too fast. Wish it would slow down because I could use about six more months of this gorgeous weather. I knew when I got up it was going to be a busy day so I put the ingredients for Spanish Rice that I posted on the "I'll share my recipe" thread the other day in the crockpot. Then I did three loads of laundry and got them put away. Sometimes happiness is an empty clothes hamper. Geez, I need to get a life!! Finished cleaning the paint off the guest bathroom floor, vacuumed the Florida room and kitchen and then got those mopped. Harry cleaned the screened porch yesterday and the front porch today. He has a hard time because of his congestive heart failure and PAD but God bless him for trying.

So I think we'll have some fruit and bread with the Spanish rice. And that'll be it.

dressup luncheon, today.

Fresh field greens
stuffed pork loin
french silk pie

And had a presentation of pearls and a tribute to Coco Chanel.

We all received pink pearl studs.

Glenda, that must have been a really nice way to spend the day. Sure beats the heck out of scrubbing floors :0 I loved that Coco Chanel boxy-jacket suit. Had a few knock-offs myself.

That ratio illustrates that, on average, plants use 1.5 parts of P and 7 parts of K for every 10 parts of N. The actual amounts of P and K that fertilizers supply are not what it says on the box. 10-10-10, for instance, is actually 10-4.3-8.3 after the factoring is done to account for the fact that P is reported as P2O5 (phosphorous pentoxide) and K is reported as K2O (potassium oxide). That's the background ...... what's important is, after the factoring is done for 3:1:2 ratio fertilizers, you'll find that they supply actual amounts of NPK in a ratio almost exactly that of the average ratio of nutrients plants use. 18-6-12 would be exactly a 3:1:2 ratio, so your CRF is pretty spot on in that regard. The only drawback to using it is, you relinquish control of when nutrients are supplied to your plants. Glenda, you're gonna have to start including the addresses of these restaurants you talk about! Kind of like "Glenda's Diners and More"! Mmmmm... meatballs. Sometimes the pasta is an afterthought for me (sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes). ----- Dinner for me tonight was a salami/pepperoni/provolone sub from Subway, because I had to be at the office. I made beef lo mein. I sort of winged it but I used a sauce recipe from myrecipes.com. I used some carrots, green onion and cabbage for the vegetables. I used Dreamfields linguine for the noodles. It was pretty good and stretched out a small package of beef that I picked up on sale (I cut it very thin). I actually made it last night since things are a rush around her these days while Nick has football every evening. Good thing I did because DH was stuck in traffic and I had to take Nick to football practice. I nuked some frozen egg rolls to go along with it.

My day started out pretty early. Cheryl and I took Izzi and KC to the groomers and dropped them off and then to another town and we had a great breakfast at Cracker Barrel. I had a hard fried egg on sourdough toast covered in some really good tasting melted cheese. On the other half of the toast more good cheese melted and a couple pieces of bacon and a piece of ham. That came with fried apples. Cheryl shared half of a sweet potato pancake, so good. I had unsweetened iced tea to drink. Around 3 in the afternoon after shopping all the time, we went to Steak and Shake and each had a big milk shake during the "Happy Hour". So no supper for me tonight. Had a good day and hope all did too.

Oven Baked Ham Steak, mashed potatoes and some sort of vegetable.

Just finished a well-done roast beef with potatoes, carrots and onions around the roast.

A smidgeon of apple crisp is left....just enough to tick me off. LOL.

How was the Spanish Rice Patti2? I copied it from the recipe thread.

I did a couple loads of laundry. Also got the guest bed put back together. My cleaning lady is here so my house will be so nice after she leaves and I didn't have to lift a finger.

Dinner tonight is going to be ham steak with pineapple, mashed potatoes and a veggie.

Planning on tortilla soup, made in my vitamix machine.. it's very yummy, and a good way to use veggies up as I need to clean out the frig.

Another supper with the Amish. Roast pork, mashed potatoes/gravy, carrots freshly pulled from the ground today and cooked just right, combo salad/slaw, rolls/jelly, tapioca pudding w/chocolate pcs in it, peppermint tea. Choice of berry, apple, chocolate pies. I'm walking like a Weeble now.

Jas, the Spanish rice was good except I cut the recipe in half but forgot to cut the salt in half :-( Unless you're feeding about 10 people, take my advice and cut the recipe as I did!! I still have a lot left over.

We had boneless chicken breasts cooked with rice in the oven. I had 4 breast pieces. I used 1 1/4 cup of dried rice and mixed in 2 cans cream of mushroom soup, 1 can of mixed veggies, a couple cups of water, parsley, thyme, and dehydrated onions, and a couple of large handfuls of shredded cheddar cheese. It took over an hour and a half to cook and I had to stir a couple of times, but it turned out really good. Served it with brussel sprouts and it all turned out really good!
