I freeze pound cake. See no reason why you can't.

I love dump cake!

I love dump cakes. However; I have never tried to freeze one.

My favorite cake! I bet you can freeze it. Before serving you'd need to warm it up in the oven to get the crispness back to the topping.

My only complaint about dump cake is after 24 hours the top gets soggy.

This summer I started using Blueberry pie filling for the first time, and it got rave reviews. Now I'm craving some!

Oh, my idea of dump cake must be different from what ya'll are talking about.

I make a chocolate sour cream dump cake that's a cake baked in a bundt pan.

I live within a couple of miles of a dump ...

... pardon me, "landfill" ...

... but haven't found any "cakes" there.

Truth be told - I haven't gone looking for one/any, either.

Several years ago some U.S. folks, Michiganders, and citizens of Detroit and area, were making negative noises about the city of Toronto's 140 or so garbage trucks hauling their waste over the border to be parked near Detroit.

A garbage site near me had been licensed for 9 million tons ... and succeeded in obtaining an increase to 17 million tons ...

... and I said, "Oh! Oh! I know what's coming next!!"!

And ...

... sure enough ...

... the city of Toronto bought it ...

... for $220 million!

This is my version of dump cake

Chocolate sour cream dump cake

1 package devils food cake mix
1 package chocolate instant pudding
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup oil
4 eggs
1 small container of sour cream
1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Preheat oven to 350�F.

Dump cake mix and pudding into big mixing bowl. Stir in warm water and oil.

Beat eggs and add to mixture. Stir in the sour cream. Add chocolate chips.

Pour batter mixture into greased bundt pan. Cook in middle rack of oven for about an hour or until a toothpick test comes out clean.

I make it with cherry pie filling,crushed pineapple,walnuts or pecans, sprinkle dry cake mix on top of that and drizzle with butter and bake. Top with whipped cream

PS Not sure I'd freeze it. But if it's leftover it would be a toss up as to garbage or freezer I'd definitely try it cause there is nothing to lose.

Glenda, I'm going to have to fix your's. Does icing go on top?

Here's our local recipe.

Dump Cake.

In 9 x 13 cake pan, layer in order:

1 can (I use 2) pie filling. Cherry, Apple & Blueberry are the best.

1 med. can crushed pineapple. I drain some of the juice.

Dump 1 dry yellow cake mix on top.

Slice 2 sticks butter and lay over cake mix.

Bake for 1hr 20min. at 325. Take out of oven & sprinkle chopped nuts and coconut on top. Bake additional 10 min. until the nuts and coconut are browned.

The nuts and coconut are optional, so if you don't use those, keep baking the cake that same extra 10 minutes.

Mix 1 can of pineapple in juice with
1 box of yellow cake mix with OUT pudding in mix.

pour in 9 by 13 pan. Mine takes about an hour at 325 degrees.

Or pour a bunch of the frozen 3 berry mix from Costco in bottom of 13 by 9 cake pan.

Mix white soda, regular or diet with one box of yellow or white box cake with OUT pudding in mix. Pour over the frozen berries and cook about an hour or sometimes more if you use a LOT of berries, at 325 degrees.

No added sugars or fats. Really fast and easy

The dump cake I shared doesn't need icing, but you can if you wanna :o)

I used to make it in married/camping days.

I have found the one that I like best and always get asked about is the spiced apple

Just make your regular dump cake but u use a can of spiced apple pie filling along with the can of crushed pineapple, sprinkle in a little cinnamon and nutmeg, dump the cake mix on top, no mixing, then sprinkle on top of that some brown sugar, the pats of butter and a little cinnamon.,

It comes out almost like a crumble topping apple pie or cobbler.
It is awesome.

My favorite uses a Butter Pecan cake mix , Betty Crocker I believe and a can of peaches. the rest is the same ..tastes like peach cobbler .

Of course, straight from the oven with a scoop of ice cream is preferred.

Wacky Cake
Use an UNGREASED 9"x13"x2" pan
Into it sift the following mixture ( dump everything in the sifter )
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
Then add
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup salad oil
1 cup water

Stir this mixture around in the pan until there are no lumps.
then bake for 30-35 minutes in a 350 oven.

We used to make these on card playing evenings back in the 50�s and 60�s before anyone worried about using too much oil etc

I like the pumpkin dump cake......yummy and easy.
