to help you not go to those bad sites I would suggest you add WOT to your browser it will provide ratings for sites and if you do a google search you will see green, yellow or red circles so you know which are safe or not. Many of the wallpaper sites are notirous for having infected files. The ones I use that have always been clean are these.

those should get you started, and remember you want to select the resolution size that is the size your monitor uses.

If you want to put several you like in one folder you can then point your pc to that folder to use as a slide show for your wallpaper. If you need help with that please tell me which version of windows you are using and I can help.

RC, I download a lot of the daily pictures that our members post and have them saved to a file. They are my screensaver.

But the pictures don't fill my screen.....some are tall and narrow and others are small, in the center. Some do fill the screen. They were downloaded using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, as PDF format, if that makes any difference. I'd like them to fill the screen, and don't know how to do that.

when I get pics that do not fit the proper resolution size I use a great website to resize them called picnik
it is free and not only can you size them to what ever size you need you can also add all sorts of neat stuff to them like frames, text, decorations, etc try it out I can spend way too much time there playing. once done to your liking you just save it to your pc.

when you have an option it is best to save them as jpg file type. Sometimes when they get posted to forums and blogs etc the size has been reduced to fit so they are not very sharp when resized to full monitor size.

I have been collecting them for years. This is a screen shot and at first I thought it was to busy, but I really like it. The orig photo was to small so I tiled it. I changed my desktop icons, lower left hand side to haunted houses.

Most graphics I find are already either .BMP, .GIF or .JPG, any of which work fine for current operating systems. If not, I use Irfanview to convert it.

I just have Windows stretch the image. A few, I've resized in Irfanview.

I have a free e-mail program called Incredimail, and they have a thing called Magnectic, another free program, with-in Incredimail and it has lots and lots of neat desk top pictures and also screen savers. I love it, and I have been using it for about 10 years and have never had a problem with it. You can change you desktop in an instant.

I either use my own pictures or some posted here at KT.Right now i have Alisande's fall picture she posted last week,with her permission of course.Then i just fit it to my screen.

Usually I set my wallpaper as centered, then I choose a back ground color that matches the photo. I like the framed look and the picture is not "in your face".

I like this one below, it has a calendar too. I'm using the fall leaves.
But if I want a certain picture I just google images, like "Pumpkin" and find it.

If you're using a computer that has the Windows operating system, it should have come with several different graphics to choose from to use as the desktop wallpaper, one of which is autumn-themed. Go to Control Panel then choose Display then click on the Desktop tab. Looks like this:

I've always used my own pictures. I take pretty good-sized pictures and they cover my whole screen.

Since our Great Granddaughter was born in May, I use her photos on my desktop. Before that (and later too, I'm sure) I will also use my own photos. I must be different then most because I don't want the photo to cover the entire desktop. I want it in the middle, with a solid border around the outside where I put my desktop ICONS. I use a little program called traycolor.exe to 'pick' a color from the current photo, then use the description of that color (RGB) to set my border to match a color from the photo.

Lindsey: I have windows7, but I don't fine any thing that pretty on it.

I never thought of having a border around a picture to put the icons on. That seems like it would make them plainer to see.

I'll have to check into the other sites mentioned, but all that resizing is too ambitious for me. I like ready make slide shows. yes I'm lazy and still trying to get use to things on the computer. Thanks everyone for the help. I'm gong to save these so I can refer back to them. l.marie

most of the sites I listed allow you to select which size you want right there and then presents you with the proper sized image to save to your pc.
I love fractals so I have a lot of beautiful fractal pics I use for wallpaper.

I love to see peoples desktop pictures, on many of the forums I am on each month a new thread is started for desktop pics of the month, It is so cool to see the many various pictures people choose for their desktop.
This is what is on mine right now, I use thumbnail which is clickable so as not to make this thread get too hard to view.
