longevity

This is a subject that's always interested me. How some people can live such extended lives, while others....

I know the oldest DOCUMENTED (people lie) person to have ever lived was Jeanne Clement of France, who died at 122 & a number of days about 12 years ago, & the current oldest person in the world is circa 116 years.

My family longevity has not been great, with my mother dying at age 32 (due to a severe heart problem as the result of a childhood illness) & my father at age 74 (pancreatic cancer). My grandparents all died relatively young---50ties-60ties) save my maternal grandmother who died in her early 90ties---however her health had been poor for at least two decades prior, so no wonderful news there. If increasing your lifespan, & even your general health, comes from wisely picking your own forebearers, well I haven't done too well in that regard.

My husband's family is much more long-lived, & he currently has a couple of "young uncles" who are still going strong at around age 95.

So what is your family longevity story?
