Hate red and orange and look bad in them. My colors are green, taupe, brown, olive, and grey.

I've never bought anything orange or red as I feel like the colors wear me, instead of me wearing them. I wear alot of black and accent it with purple, pink and blue.

I've been told that I look best in a royal blue or in black. I love both colors.

I've been told my whole life that I look good in the coral, peachy, pink family of colors. I stay away from gray, but you can find anything else in my closet.

When I was a model, they told me that purple was my color, blue was second best. I look horrible in yellow or orange.

what most people don't realize that there are different shades of a color....they say they look terrible in red for instance but there might be a yellow red, an orange red, a red red, a purple red, a blue red etc etc...you are bound to look nice in some of the reds...same with other colors..

I think that was called finding your season...they used different colored scarves to determine what your season was...spring, summer fall and winter...

Since I have pale skin and med. blonde hair, reds and oranges look best on me, green is good too...warm bright tones, otherwise I look sickly. Although I think cool tones and pastels are pretty they don't work for me...

I had my "colors" done, and I am a summer. This means pastels of the same tones as a winter. All this means is that my colors must be blue-based.

If you are a spring or autumn, your colors are yellow-based.

I like shades and tints of purple, teal, or aqua, I like red. No yellow or orange or brown for me.

Back in the day I was considered a Winter..

But..I have this oddity..I am light olive complected with brown hair...my hair will sun bleach to blondes and lots of red undertones. I have cheek freckles..I have golden brown eyes.

So I look fab in hot pink, but can wear salmon just as well...or blue or gray..
I mostly stay in pinks, blues and purples though..I do not wear olives, taupes or yellows..but i love to decorate with earthy colors.

Brown looks good on me, plus black.

I have an aqua colored dressy top and get lots of compliments when I wear it with white pants.

I'm a "winter" from back in the day. Jewel tones, mostly, plus brown and black.

I can't wear yellow or some greens. I also steer clear of stark white.

Love shades of blue and brown. No white pants for me prefer darker ones. Not fond of greens

I look best in warm shades. I remember the color me beautiful craze. I think they should get back to that because certain colors just look bad on people. I look absolutely horrible in yellow. I'm not sure too many people look good in yellow though, I guess a winter? I think dark skinned people look pretty nice in bright yellow.

Periwinkle,all blues coral/peach. aqua/turq.,brown & grey. I cannot wear beige/tan-totally washes me out. I feel that the deep jewel tones also wash me out.

I get the most compliments when I wear bright yellow.
I love medium to dark teal.

If your skin has ivory or yellow tones, you need the cool colors for balance, & depending on the depth or intensity of color in your complexion, you're a winter (jewel tones & black), vivid summer (deep cool pastels & black or charcoal), or summer (pale cool pastels & pearl gray).

If your skin has pink or rosy tones, you need warm colors for balance.
Depending on the depth of color in your complexion, you'd be an autumn (rust, olive, bright, even chrome, yellow, brown), vivid spring (brignt clear warm colors like apple green, apricot, daffodil yellow & warm beiges), or a spring (pale yellows & yellow-greens, peaches, & tans).

I think the only people who are in the Autumn/Spring group are the ones with Irish or Scandinavian ancestry, like Lucille Ball & Sarah Ferguson, so most of us are in the Winter/Summer group.

Contrast is another factor;
the more color you have, the more contrast you can handle.
Winters can wear big blocks of dramatic colors (say, black & red), while Vivid Summers would wear charcoal with red, & Summers would wear pearl gray with watermelon red.

& as we get older, we fade (Elizabeth Taylor went from Winter to Vivid Summer, from royal purple to deep violet), so wear your brightest colors *now*!

I look best in bright colors like red, cobalt blue, bright pink etc. Pastels don't flatter me much and neither does ivory.

I am a winter and have my Dad's Irish coloring, even his premature white hair. Blues and blue-greens have always been my best colors.

I remember doing that color testing thing in home economics in high school. My color was green, which I really don't like. My home is mostly blue. But I know I do look best in green. The only color I dislike is gray. I never wear it, except as nail polish. And I wouldn't have gray in my home. My car is silver, that's sort-of gray...

I can wear almost any green, any brown, or anything with grey added to it, like grey-blue. I can also wear all the earth colors you see around you right about now, in autumn. They have to be muted colors, not solid white, or solid black. I don't do well with the truest true blue, red, or purple, though. It can be a cinnamon red or plummy purple, for instance, but fire-engine red? Never gonna happen. My very best color? Oy. Greenish-greyish-blue. An equal mix of each color into one. I can't even explain what that is, but I had a tee shirt on that was that color once and I've never found that color again. The next closest is lilac grey. Good luck finding that one too! More common, but not common enough.

Royal blue, several different shades of green, turquoise....

I can remember going with my sisters in law when the color matching was popular, we were given little cards of color we were supposed to carry with us when shopping for clothes. And it fell into the lines of colors I'm attracted to anyway. Anything warm, not cool tones. There's no pink in my skin :) Or my make-drawer, my closet, furnishings, only a minimum in my garden. I'm an Autumn or vibrant Spring, meaning I can wear the more saturated Spring colors and not the pastels. I shouldn't be able to wear black well but I do, a lot, my staples in my clothes seem to be all black and winter white/cream these days, it's funny how few pieces I really do need. Black skirts in different lengths, black jeans, black pants. Let's me splurge on my weakness, expensive shoes - I don't need 10 different colors to go with what's over my legs above them ;)

I have very dark hair and very light skin with pink undertones. I look best in black, followed by deeper jewel tones like deep purple and burgundy. I can't pull off yellow or orange. I can do some reds but only bright/deep. No pastels either with the exception of blue. Pastel blue is really flattering with my coloring for some reason but pinks, greens and yellows, not so much.

Katherine told me that a quick way to tell whether you're warm or cool is to hold up a piece of silver lame' next to your clean (no make-up) face & then a piece of gold lame'.

If you're Autumn/Spring, the gold will make you look radiantly beautiful, & the silver will make you look like you need oxygen, or, for some odd reason, just the opposite, like W C Fields after a night on the tiles (too florid).

If you're a Winter/Summer, the silver will make you look radiantly beautiful, & the gold will make you look like you have hepatitis!

& there are quirks, as a lot of people have noted;
according to 'doing your colors', you *shouldn't* be able to wear both warm apricot and dusty rose, & yet some of you can.

I think some of that is due to your own intensity of color & your hair & eye color, & some of it is just odd.

I'm Vivid Summer, right in the middle of the spectrum, but certain shades of olive green look really good on me;
if they have too much 'mustard' in them...I look like I have hepatitis.

Women who have more color, such as women of color, can wear a broader spectrum of color;
look at Eva Longoria & Oprah.

I am an autumn, with green eyes, auburn hair, peaches and cream complexion. I look good in any color you can find in the fall leaves.

When I first went to Color Me Beautiful, I thought I was a summer, but having 10 people in my class saying, "Yes! That's perfect!" as I was draped in brick red and pumpkin orange and olive green changed my mind!
