Yard sales today

I keep thinking yard sale season is coming to an end but the sales keep coming.

The first sale was so disappointing. It was out in the boonies and I had to walk up a long driveway to a small amount of overpriced boring stuff. I did buy a sort of cute winter vest/coat for $1 just because I walked up that driveway I was going to buy something! It was a nice house in a nice neighborhood but it was the second day - maybe they had better stuff yesterday.

Next I went to a big church sale where I hit another jackpot. A KitchenAid stand mixer (a KA-5, from the Hobart days) for $20. Yes it works. Never thought I needed a KA stand mixer but for $20 I decided I did. Woo hoo! That might be the deal of the season.

Took that to the car and then I filled a box with odds and ends - cookbooks, kids books, small toys, two Tupperware containers, etc. There was a lot of stuff in that box. They said $2. Okay!

I got a large handled basket, a cute X-mas shirt and a wine bottle holder at the next sale (under $3 for all that), after taking a break to have my oil changed (luckily most of the sales were right by the garage).

Then I went to one sale that I kept avoiding all summer (they advertised several times) because I never wanted to pull up their driveway (which turned out to be no big deal - there was plenty of turn around room). Got a bunch of cookbooks and a pretty dragonfly necklace. Wish I had gone to her other sales since the cookbooks and jewelry she had left were so nice, I bet she started out with a lot of good stuff. $5 for all that.

One last sale where I got a nice pair of brown loafers, a bunch of beanie babies to put back for Christmas, an insulated coffee mug, Roger Rabbit on tape, an I Spy book and a plush Cat in the Hat for $7.25.

Now I am resting since I am taking the boys to the firehouse for their open house as soon as Nick gets back from hunting.

So I spent about $37 today. One of my highest days but I'm not complaining.
