This is the message that MaryAnn's sister, Faith, posted on MaryAnn's Facebook.

"Mary Ann is in very serious condition and we don't expect to have her much longer. She has never complained although we know she must have suffered. She was always positive and uplifting and LOVES her friends. S...he is still on the ventilator and is in very bad shape but she hasn't given up. She was unconscious from Tuesday morning until Saturday afternoon when she opened her eyes and responded to her son. I was there Monday-Friday when I returned home to Florida. Right this minute her sons are meeting with Hospice. Thank you for being a wonderful friend to Mary Ann. I'll keep you posted on how things are going."

Wow, thanks everyone. Man you all are amazing! I didn't mean to make people cry! It was a little weird for me to realize that my best friend is the same age as my mom was when she died! I talked to granny yesterday, she wants me to read a poem at my mom's 'memorial' on Saturday. I guess I will, I've never been able to say no to her! I'll post back and let you know how Saturday goes. I hope I remember to get a picture of me with granny to post here. Dcarch, who knows if I will lose weight now or not. I have a sense of humor about it and I'm happy with myself... I'm not out to impress anyone. If I do, great, and if not, I'll be happy anyway. I think I love food too much to be very skinny. And yes, Annie is right... I LOVE vacuums. Here's a Youtube video of my collection :o) I made this to show other vacuum and appliance collectors (yes, there's a club for that too).... You'll have to excuse the messy place! I've gotten two more since I made the video!

After an 18-month absence from FB, I recreated an account in order to view photos from my scuba instructor. I can say that, having now been back on FB for a couple of weeks, I definitely haven't been missing much. I find I'm not nearly as drawn to it as I was before, and that probably has a lot to do with the fact that I don't have many FB friends at this point - only the people that I really want to be in contact with. Under my old account I had managed to reconnect with just about everyone from my past and present, and realized that only a fraction of those people really had any relevance in my life anymore. I think that FB is a ridiculous place to spout political views, although most of my friends are of like-mind, so I'm not seeing much "drama" in that regard anymore. Shortly after I rejoined FB, I got a friend request from someone who had 500+ friends and it was obvious he was simply "collecting." Then I got a request from someone who lives in an area where we vacation who wanted to send me risque photos. I have no idea what is wrong with people like that, but I want no part of it.

There are discussion forums that actually want their followers to bring up old threads rather than start new ones. Maybe they are just used to doing that...IMHO, I do not see the point and after a while, the old threads just lose their appeal. But I swear, at this forum where he posts, it's nothing for a member to drag up some OOOOOLD thread from 10 years ago...I kid you not! Now my husband makes it a point to check the first thread date and does not bother posting in some really old thread. I just do not see why it would not be better just to begin a brand new thread for discussion. They probably come up when they google search.

I didn't find it Kat, hgl gaylemarie found it and posted at the Meeting House. I felt that the people here needed to see that Hospice was being brought in and that she really isn't good at all. Oh how I wish she would pull through this but we have to be realistic and realize it isn't going to happen.

My heart is so heavy. I am happy to have known and met a wonderful lady like MaryAnn, she was little yet mighty! May God wrap her in his loving arms and keep her free from pain. Also, I pray for her family to remain strong as they go thru this trying time.

I read that FB message last night. Faith posted it under her original message about MaryAnn.

thanks Nita. I know what your saying. I'm glad she made the most of her days. Her body is wearing out it seems and the pneumonia is taking over. This is heart breaking. I want a miracle.

It's still so hard to believe that it has come to this......it seems like just last week I was reading her updates on facebook. I've never met her in person but I just know what a wonderful person she is.

Her family and friends have been so fortunate to have had her in their lives. She is so exceptional,and will leave quite a legacy to her family. I consider it an honor to call her "friend" and will not forget her. She's our girl and we love her dearly. Godspeed, MaryAnn, Godspeed.

My heartfelt condolences to MaryAnn's family and close friends. I will miss reading her words, but will always remember her sweet self! Pain free and able to fly with the angels...God bless MaryAnn.

It does seem I was just reading her comments recently. Since I don't come here as much as some do, I don't know what her illness is. I'm guessing cancer. If she doesn't make it, I'm hoping she will go peacefully without any pain or discomfort and with her family beside her. She will be missed by many, and that's a testament to what a lovely person she is. But miracles can still happen.

Lily, MaryAnn has been fighting cancer for a few years.
She just returned from a trip to Vegas...she was so excited to go and enjoyed her time with family there.
She got pneumonia and it took her down. Her lungs were already weakened by the cancer.

I never had the privilege of meeting MaryAnn, but from reading her posts here and other forums I could tell she was a caring, adventurous person. Her post when I found out my brother has cancer calmed me down and gave me hope.

I'm so sad to read this; thanks terri for the explantation since I didn't realize she had developed pneumonia after her trip. I do hope she had a really wonderful time in Vegas with her family. I think the angels will lift this girl straight up to Heaven, when it is time. I'm so hoping she's not in pain or distress now.

We are thankful for her kindly self, and if it is time for her to pass to another dimension of life, I pray that her remaining days here may be pain-free and peaceful, and that she and her family may know God's peace through this trying time.

My heart hurts every time I think about our friend no longer being with us. MaryAnn has always been one of the major encouragers here.

Thanks for posting this Nita...I've thought about her all weekend...I feel blessed to have met her at Shelbas in 2004...she is a wonderful person and I pray her passing is peaceful...My heart goes out to her family and I hurt for those she leaves behind...
