I used to make that fairly often years ago. I do remember it being tasty and the icing was my favorite part.

Haven't made this in years & don't know why because it's so good. Nice that you can make it with just one pan & the jellyroll pan. TEXAS SHEET CAKE Cake: 2 cups flour 2 cups sugar Dash of salt 2 sticks margarine 1 cup water 5 TBL cocoa 1/2 cup buttermilk 2 eggs 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp vanilla Coil margarine, water & cocoa. Pour over mixture of flour, sugar & salt & stir rapidly. Add buttermilk, eggs, cinnamon, baking soda & vanilla. Bake on a large, greased jellyroll pan in a preheated 400Â° oven for 20 minutes - no more! (Test with a toothpick after 15 minutes.) While cake bakes, during last 5 minutes, make the icing.~~ Icing: 6 TBL milk 1 stick margarine 1 box powdered sugar 1 tsp vanilla 4 TBL cocoa 1/2 cup chopped pecans Melt margarine w/milk & cocoa & pour over powdered sugar. Add vanilla & nuts; mix well. Ice cake as soon as it comes out of the oven.~~

Sharon those crepes look delicious, and so do Alexa's bacon potatoes, I have to go find that recipe since we just made 25 pounds of bacon! I finally got my camera back, and so I have pictures. Elery and I smoked bacon, so we had the perfect breakfast. It was maple cured and applewood smoked bacon with fresh eggs from the farm and homemade honey wheat toast: Chrystal made some of Julia Child's liver pate and sent some home with me, so we had it with crackers: I made three loaves of that honey wheat bread and Cooper and I had some hot with butter: I made venison meatloaf with the glaze that Nancy (wizardnm) uses, the girls love it: Finally, tonight we had the last package of locally caught salmon on the grill, with some of the pink half runner beans that we grew and canned last summer, and a side dish of quinoa with raisins and almonds, a knock-off of an Ellie Krieger recipe. It was all good... Tonight I made a rhubarb pie for my secretary's birthday, using the Never Fail Pastry recipe from SharonCB. It's so easy to handle, I roll it out right after I mix it, I don't even chill it and it comes out perfectly every time, without a tear: Perfectly browned and flakey, it'll go to the office tomorrow: Annie

Linda - don't know about the pumpkin or fudge one, but here's an excellent one for Peanut Butter Texas Sheet Cake: PEANUT BUTTER TEXAS SHEET CAKE 2 cups all-purpose flour 2 cups sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 cup water 3/4 cup butter or margarine 1/2 cup chunky peanut butter (may use creamy if you prefer) 1/4 cup vegetable oil 2 eggs 1/2 cup buttermilk 1 tsp. vanilla extract GLAZE: 2/3 cup sugar 1/3 cup evaporated milk 1 Tblsp. butter or margarine 1/3 cup chunky peanut butter (may use creamy if you prefer) 1/2 cup miniature marshmallows 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda and salt; set aside. In a saucepan, bring water and butter to a boil; stir in peanut butter and oil until blended. Add to dry ingredients; mix well. Combine eggs, buttermilk and vanilla; add to peanut butter mixture. Mix well. Pour into a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Bake at 350Â° F. 16-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Meanwhile, combine sugar, milk and butter in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat; stir in the peanut butter, marshmallows and vanilla until marshmallows are melted. Spoon over warm cake and carefully spread over the top. Cool completely. This is one I have have always used. You can use any flavor jello you want. And I use an ice pick to poke holes in the cake.

Orange Refrigerator Sheet Cake

1 pkg Duncan Hines Princess White Cake Mix
1 (3 oz) pkg orange Jell-O
1 envelope whipped topping mix (Dream Whip)
1 1/2 cups cold milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 pkg vanilla instant pudding, 4 servings

Dissolve Jell-O in 3/4 cup boiling water. Add 1/2 cup cold water; set aside. Mix and bake cake as directed in a 13x9x2 pan. Cool 20-25 minutes. Poke deep holes about 1" apart in cake (while still in pan) with a meat fork. Pour Jell-O mixture into holes. Refrigerate cake while preparing topping mix, instant pudding, cold milk and vanilla until stiff (3-8 minutes.) Immediately frost cake and store in refrigerator. Serve chilled.

I haven't maade it for a long time - I'll have to get right on it - yummy! But I make mine on a big, flat pan - like cookie sheet with sides - not a 9 X 13 as suggested in the recipe above.

I don't have the recipe for the particular one I had. Hopefully I'll get it at church tomorrow. We had it at our small group gathering last night. It's a bible study group.

Yikes! I had forgotten about that Texas Sheet Cake! Think I'll make it for my DD's birthday later this month.

This isn't a Texas sheet cake, but it's chocolate sheet cake and really delicious. I got it from my sister's mother-in-law when I was a teenager. Man, she was a good cook! The frosting is the best part. It's yummy.

CHOCOLATE SHEET CAKE

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
4 eggs
1/8 tsp. salt
1 c. + 1 Tbsp. flour
1 - 16 oz. can chocolate syrup

Cream sugar and butter until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating until smooth. Add salt; blend in flour and syrup. Pur into a 10-1/2x15-1/2 cookie sheet with sides. Bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees.

Frosting:

1-1/2 c. sugar
6 Tbsp. butter
6 Tsp. milk
1/2 c. chocolate chips
1 c. nuts (I used pecans)

Bring sugar butter and milk to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and add chips and nuts. Stir until chips melt. Spread on cake while it's still arm. Work fast--it gets hard quickly. If that happend, add a little milk.
