No, but I've used a salve made from marijuana, and it worked wonderfully. Can't use it now, because I'm looking for a job, and even tho pot is legal here in Colorado, employers still do drug testing and screen for it.

A friend of mine just returned from a week in Sedona where she bought me a small vial of peppermint used for muscle pain. You rub it on the neck muscles and it's supposed to ease the pain in all your neck, shoulder and back muscles. Unfortunately, my pain is from bulging discs and crunching bones so the only effect I got from it was a soothing, cool sensation, which in itself, was very nice.

I may have mentioned this previously, but as I have had long-term effects from Shingles (started last November, so a year coming up, but almost no change), I've tried acupuncture, herbs, a homeopathic remedy claimed to be especially for shingles, a pharmaceutical pill, which, according to my doctor sometimes helps his post shingle patients ( though not its main purpose), massage therapy, ALL without results. Interestingly, the only application I've found, though a temporary fix, has been Noxema, which contains eucalyptus oil. So I've had a minor success with that, but never tried it for muscle pains.

Vicks Vapor Rub has eucalyptus oil in it.

I was at a street fair in Palm Desert last year and found a booth selling aroma products and something called Muscle Mist. It is guaranteed. It was not cheap but works exceptionally well for short term relief.
I ran out but hated paying the shipping fee so I got something similar at CVS called Max-Freeze. It doesn't work quite as well as the Muscle Mist but was not as expensive.

I discovered the benefits of Vicks some years ago when I started using it on my feet at night. For most of my adult life, I have had a type of neuropathy in my feet that presents itself as a burning sensation.

There's no known medical explanation that doctors have found so far. My grandfather suffered from the same thing. The discomfort is enough to keep me awake unless I "cool " the burning in some way. I started out by applying lotions and socks every single night. I progressed to hot rubs (including Tiger Balm), which were better but not great.

For some reason, I tried Vicks one night about five years ago. BINGO! But there have been some surprising additional benefits. After several weeks, I noticed that a plantar wart on the bottom of my foot was gone! I'd had it since a teenager.

I also had a small wart on my index finger for twenty years....gone. So, I started applying it to the little things that have grown on my scalp or anyplace else.....gone. It's the same for Robert.

Oh, did I mention the toenail fungus on my big toe? Gone.

I swear by Biofreeze!

I like Biofreeze too, but I have another use for it...I have "restless legs" and I spray it on the backs of my knees when I am bothered by that annoying feeling. For me (not an endorsement for anyone else) it seems to mask that jumpy, irritating leg twinge. I sometimes get up to use it in the middle of the night!

rhizo, I am SO going to try Vicks on my feet! TY! I sometimes have the same problem, and I believe my grandfather did too, as I remember when we stayed with him, him sitting on the edge of the bathtub, running cold water on his feet. Sometimes, I've gotten out of a warm sleepy bed to do the same thing, and it sure makes it hard to get back to that sleepy state.

Jean, please let me know if it works for you! It's been a life saver for my burning feet. Don't forget the comfy socks. By the way, generic brands work for me, too, as long as the ingredients list and percentages are identical.
