I will play the poor loser now. The Cardinals won because the Phillies gave it to them. The Phillies were by far the best team in baseball winning 102 games, the best the Phillies ever did, the most games won by a manager , sold out attendance records going back a few years. The Phillies won their division weeks before everyone else and swept Atlanta in the end. If they would have lost one game to Atlanta, the Cardinals would not be where they are. If Chase Utley had not thrown a bad pitch, it might have been a different outcome. I don't like the way the system operates. I liked it the way it was in the old days when the winner of the National league and American played each other in the Series. Now there are so many levels of play and games to go to get to the Series. Plus football is reigning now, and the weather can be really iffy. We Phillies fans are sad as every sportswriter said from day one..the best team in baseball and they were. Never-the less, I will root for the Cards,.

Lily, I agree with you, the Phillies were a better team than the Cardinals, and beating them was a lot of luck and hard work.

As for the fans, Busch Stadium is sold out nearly every game during the regular season, there are few fair-weather fans. We arguably have the best fans in baseball, we even applaud for the opposing team when they make a great play. We just simply love good baseball.

I agree with the symantics of the playoff structure, I liked the National/American league World Series too. But it isn't anything we can change, so we have to just take it as it is.

I have been a Cards fan since I can remember. In 1983, at the home opener after we won the series in '82, our parents let my friend and I cut school that day and attend the game and ring ceremony. We were in 7th grade and it was just the two of us girls! Remember those days when that was okay? But oh, I miss the old stadium. Since moving to Phoenix I have only been back for one game at the new stadium, I knew the old one like I know my own house. I do like the image of the Arch mowed into the field. However, when the Cards come here to Phoenix, there are so many St. Louis fans that live here that there are about as many St. Louis fans as D-Backs fans. It is a lot of fun, Cards fans love a good, friendly rivalry, and we never miss a game (don't tell my boss that I am not sick those days - never mind, he is from St. Louis too and we all go together!).

At any rate, it will be a great series, the Cards have their work cut out for them against a serious bullpen, but I think we will be good competition.

Yeah. Yeah! I know. Our Brewers left the stadium with their heads hanging down. The Cards tripped them up.

Phillie fans are everywhere. When they play DC, there are more Phillie fans than the home team ,because they take the train up. Even on the West Coast there are always fans with their red hats and shirts occupying big sections of the bleachers.

I grew up listening to the Phillies on my grandfather's radio, then my dad watched them on TV and my husband never misses a game. He goes to see them a few times a year. Sometime they really disappoint like the 1964 team and the 2011 one. I think they lost 10 in a row in '64 and only had to win one to make the series or something like that. We always lose by one and win by 6. I'm glad the tension is over. Now I'm not invested. My DD asked how this impacted my life when I complained about them blowing it. That put it in perspective. And I watch NO other sports, except grandson's soccer.
