did you change over to the new version? Somehow, I found a way to still use the old. Call me a fuddy duddy... but I hate change, and prefer to use what I know.

I'm still using the old way also.

I don't remember exactly how I did it, but I know there was an option link on Yahoo, and I chose "stay with the old way" or words to that effect. I chose that and when it came up, I made a link to my desktop, and I just use that when I want to check my mail.

There may be a time when we are forced to accept the new, but until then, the old is fine.

I like the new one, it's similar to what Outlook used to be.

I'm not really familiar with Yahoo mail but my guess is that the email address presented to you should be an alternate email you provided sometime in the past, to be used at a time like this. If that address is unfamiliar to you, I would fear that it was entered by a hacker. Maybe not but even if it wasn't, sending recovery info to an unknown address wouldn't do you any good. I wonder if Yahoo Customer Care would help you regain control? That or someone who's been through it before will come by and with a better answer. Mine works fine . Yahoo in the news lately said starting this week they encrypt all emails for security enhancements. And all searches and messenger stuff to follow. So maybe they hit a snafu on your server or you not accessing with HTTPS or something simple.. Hopefully it will automatically fix it self fast for you... Might help it along by running something like CCleaner to clear your internet cache and restart the computer to make sure a good flush of dns cache.

There's an image display setting for Yahoo mail accounts but there could also be something wrong with that day's email you got. There's no need to stomp your feet over it. To check the setting, click on the gear symbol in the upper right. Then Settings, then Security, then you'll see a dropdown giving you a few choices of whether or when to show email images. If it isn't something you do regularly or automatically, I think it's always a good practice to periodically clear your browser's cache. Settings, preferences, and other mischief can accumulate and cause unexpected behavior.

Or maybe you don't access your account as often and just missed the window of downtime. Its problems are way more often this last week than other times. It's acting up right now. Try the link I have farther up the thread, and you'll see how large a chunk of time it's been misbehaving today. It's a moving graph so it won't show you Monday, for instance. not right this moment for me, but it was earlier and it absolutely was on Monday. Or maybe I only hit it when it wasn't working. Either way, I think you're dismissing things you shouldn't dismiss. Yahoo is having trouble right now. It'd be nice if it worked every time one opened their mail. Which is what one would expect from a mail provider. I've been with them for a very long time. It's my only email provider outside of work. I won't change. But to say it's smooth sailing, what's wrong with you? just shows you're either A) lucky, B) don't access it as often as others, or C) are oblivious(?).

Hi Joan

I never used outlook. I used hotmail, then yahoo, (which I still use some) and now use gmail for everyday mailing.

I just didn't want to switch.. and am so glad, that so far, I am getting along without the switch.

I've checked out the new version a couple of times and prefer the old one so I reverted and am staying with it. However on my main account I use PopPeeper most of the time so I don't even have to use the webmail part.

I resisted for a long time and yesterday, I couldn't find a way out of going "new". So far it doesn't seem bad! I'm with you Moni, don't like change!

I have switched back and forth over time on both computers and I just stay with the classic. It seems it works better for me to load in with my slow dial up. I did like all of the email stationery the new has and may go back again sometime.

I turned on the computer Monday morning and it had switched to the new version. It SUCKS. How can I switch back?
