Vacation Time

Joe and I are going on vacation tomorrow for a week. It's a bit different this time, normally we fly to a big city and stay in one place for a week. This time we're doing a road trip. We're taking an overnight ferry tomorrow (16 or so hours) from here to Nova Scotia. Then we're driving all around the province - Fortress of Louisbourg, the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island, Halifax, Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, Yarmouth, Digby, Annapolis Valley, etc. I hope we get good weather because that's going to involve a lot of driving. And of course I'm hoping to get good pictures as well.

We always do road trips, neither of us likes to fly. Have a great time, hope the weather is great for you~~

Vacation time.. Any shops?

I can't help you with the quilting shops but am here to tell you you're in for a REAL treat. Santa Fe is absolutely fabulous....the old town is laid out around a square, and the shops that line the four sides of the square have a large overhanging roof, over the sidewalk. Every morning native American craftsmen and women throw out a blanket and sell their wares...wonderful silver and turquoise, pottery, etc. It's a fabulous experience! Santa Fe is a town of little shops and galleries, FILLED with terrific stuff, so bring a big bag of money and your walking shoes! It's a great town to just wander around in...something neat around every corner! (my husband first took me for my 50th birthday gift...I was thrilled!!!)

I'll be missing for awhile too, but I WISH it was for a vacation! We're in the process of moving, and also I'm going to be out of town for the weekend... My life is a nightmare right now!! Gargh! (Don't worry though, it will all come together soon and things should return to normal) So I might be totally absent for awhile (perhaps as long as a week and a half) but I will be back when things are under control! See you all soon.

Have a great trip and I hope the weather cooperates. We spent a week in Nova Scotia and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wow...I learned some geography here...Sixteen hours by ferry? .I had no idea Newfoundland was so far from Nova Scotia...it doesn't look that far on a map...LOL

Have a great time. N.S. is a place I'd like to visit someday; hopefully on a New England cruise.

Redcurls, there is a shorter ferry but it involves a 10 hour drive across the island (that one leaves from Port aux Basques and goes to North Sydney). We're leaving from Argentia and going to North Sydney, Argentia is only a 1 1/2 hour drive from here.

We were road tripping in Nova Scotia on September 11, 2002 when the World Trade Center etc was bombed. Canadians were so gracious to us. We spent a couple unplanned days touring and in spite of it all thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

I know you will too...the picture taking opps abound!

I love that part of the country. We went on a cruise in that area a few years a go. It is wonderful.
