i do have to say that every single hurricane i've been thru in orlando, the day afterwards is always beautiful! i don't know if it's because i always expect severe tragedy and so far it is yet to materialize and im soo hapyy LOL or what. it also makes for a nice day to start the immense work of clean up... but this whole week that the 3 hurricanes have been passing by FL have produced much drier weather and thur a.m. is was actually 74 when i left at 7 am and not 84, it was soooo cool that it was very foggy. hope you sail thru this storm ~ liz

Air filtration/cleaning.... am I missing something?

System is currently in basement (partially finished). now there is just an open slot and I slide in the filter, obviously not air tight...but doesn't seem to be bad. Of course I know that will get worse the bigger the slot, but figured it was worth a shot....and maybe I could just use some tape or fashion a door of sorts. ...and if I mess up too bad, I can just buy the "cabinet" from AprilAire or Honeywell (mentioned above) Hhhhmmm, I just thought of something though. My current filter size is 14X20X1. So far most of what I am seeing is 16X or more. This post was edited by RascalMJ on Sat, May 4, 13 at 16:36

Something about split air source heat pump

Split air source heat pumps are specially designed for lower temperature areas. The use of green refrigerant R410A makes the units in perfect performance at temperature as low as -15. Meanwhile, the split design ensures the units reduce freezing greatly and extend the working life. This series of units for providing heat in low temperature areas.

EandHL, I like to saute the onion, garlic, peppers, and add zucchini, yellow squash, then the tomatoes. A bit of basil or parsley is delicious.

Something in the air that improves vigor

m-mm..it's not the air, but the amount of light. outside even without sun the light levels are much higher then indoors in the southern window. light=food for plants :). there is detailed info on the subject, if you search. but roughly in southern window there is half as much light as in the shade outdoors. you can find a light measuring app for mobile and then check yourself. as far as opening the window: a lot of plants prefer a temperature drop at night 7-10F. indoors the temps usually do not drop that far, UNLESS you open the window! but..some plants do not like cold drafts... though hippies are very tolerant of chill, I leave mine out until it starts dropping below 40F at nite and they are all in small 6-7" pots too.

DS called from Cambridge. His train from NYC stopped there because a tree fell over the train tracks and brought down live wires with it. All trains going north were cancelled for the rest of the day. He was heading to Boston to visit his college chums. So he walked over to the Yale campus and killed time talking to me while his friends drove down from Boston to get him.

We were in the 60's for a couple of nights so I opened the house for as long as I could. Didn't take it long, though, to soar 30+ degrees into the 90's again :-(
