I would choose to go forward......maybe 15 so years so I could see my grandchildren as young adults.
And to see if the planet is starting to heal. And peace is becoming the norm instead of war.

I'd want to go backwards.... either to the year after I graduated high school to change a couple relationships... or back to when my daughter was a toddler just to relive that time. That's assuming too that I'd know what I know now.

tough question...sure would like to have back the 4 years wasted on first marriage...but to give up dh and the 4 kids??? omg...

same thing for dd2...if I could go back and be strong enough to break it off between she and now x, but then not have her 2 darling kids???

I really didn't mean time travel to change one's life but rather to see the Big Picture of a place in time.

For instance I've heard about how my area of Northern California back in the early 1900s was a veritable Garden of Eden of fruits & vegetables. Where the Silicon Valley now is was hundreds of acres of apricot orchards, and Southern California had its massive orange groves A major street near me is called "Fruitvale".

Although I wouldn't have cared to live there back then, I wouldn't mind spending a few days in the time travel machine observing California in its earlier days.

I also think I'd like to make a Grand Tour of Europe prior to WWI.

I'm reading a book about the forestry industry of British Columbia called The Golden Spruce. The golden spruce is a spruce tree with golden needles rather than green ones that took root around 1700. It was a tree of mythic proportions worshiped by the Haida on Haida Gwaii - an island off of the coast of British Columbia.

In it the author describes what the forests and British Columbia looked like in the 1700's. Rain forests so thick that you couldn't walk through them or see the sun through the canopy, tree trunks that were so thick you couldn't see around them, forests right to the ocean. I'd love to see that.

I'm not finished the book yet but something happens to the tree. Someone tried to chop it down in 1997.

I'd also like to travel to the future to see if Gene Roddenberry's hope for the future as portrayed in the various Star Trek series came to be.

What I have always wished I could do was see the development of the Yosemite Valley from the beginning of time to now....sort of a fast forward.
Or the Grand Canyon.

We moved from Whittier (Los Angeles County) to Placentia (Orange County) in January 1964. My parents had bought a brand new house before construction began, and when it was finished, we moved in. At the end of our street was a massive orange grove. I can still remember how wonderful it was to have the windows open at night to be able to smell the orange blossoms.

If time travel were a reality, I would travel back in time so that I could meet my great-grandparents -- to be able to see what the country was like when they immigrated, and just to be able to talk to them and find out so much about my ancestors and what they went through.

This is an excellent albeit tough question. I would have to say I would go back - to correct several bad choices I've made in my life.

Oh how fun! I would go back and meet my Great Grandparents or even back further and ask all those genealogy questions that are unsolved mysteries now! I would so like to meet and talk with them!

Back in time to travel with John Muir. What he did and the way he related what he saw are amazing.

Second choice would be traveling with Charles Darwin as he figured out what he figured out!

Backwards, but only to enjoy (choosing would be harder. To see the man Christ, to enjoy my son as a baby, to see my grandparents again... the list is endless). I don't regret the bad, as so much good has come from it, and I don't want to go forward because I don't wanna know!

I'll stay right in the here and now. I would never want to relive what I've been through to get to this point in my life, and I wouldn't want to know what joys or sorrows await in my future.

It would be interesting to go back -- if only to appreciate anew all the good things we have today!

Although I loved going abroad as a young teen in 1955, much of Europe had yet to heal from WWII. I was ever so grateful to be 'coming home' and keenly felt how I lucky I was to have been born an American.

I would love to go back about 30 years and just spend the day with my Mom again. She passed in 89 and I still miss her so much everyday. My son would have been a couple of years old and we spent a lot of time together then when she was healthy. I just want to talk with her again and hug her.

I'd like to go back to my 18th birthday for a do-over. Wouldn't it be great to live it over, knowing what you know now? However, I am such a dunce, I'd probably make the same mistakes over again. I'd marry the same goofball so I'd have the same kids that I adore. This time I'd get rid of him faster.

This makes me think of the movie Midnight in Paris. It would be fun to go back and see the past first hand. I'd also love to go forward and see what a mess we make of things in the future. Not too optimistic about that.
