Several years ago I started feeling fluttering in my chest numerous times throughout the day. I saw my doctor about it and he had me wear a heart monitor for a few days. Each time I felt a flutter I was also supposed to write down the time it happened and what I was doing when I felt it happen. He sent the results to a cardiologist and he told me that I was having heart palpitations.

My family doctor prescribed atenolol, but I really didn't notice a difference in the fluttering so I didn't keep using it. I still have the fluttering from time to time, its not as severe as it was then though.

That is just my experience.

I have problems like this too, but they only happen once or twice a month. I had all the tests and they came out normal.
JMHO I think if they do a monitor, you may need the kind that you turn on when something is happening -- I think I have heard that there is one like that. Otherwise you could wear it for weeks and not have anything happen while it is on.

A couple weeks ago I had such a problem and even passed out, but the Dr. doesn't figure it was my heart. I also had a pain in the gut prior to this, and after it was over, that pain was gone. We dicided it may more likely be in the digestive system, and I'm trying to fix it with Proboitic organic yogurt. So far it is all fine!

These things can really scare you, and I hope you find a solution soon. That not knowing can really mess with you.

I could never turn anything on fast enough to catch this *whoops* feeling, it's that fleeting. MD had said earlier that a monitor stays on for a month. Wonder how you sleep and bathe?

Well, in my case, I did sleep with it on, but I would take it off for a bath. It wasn't all that comfortable. There were cords hanging. I had to wear those stickers and plug those cord things in, like an EKG. Thankfully, mine only lasted a few days, a month would be very annoying. :( I hope you don't have to wear it that long.

Heres to hoping that you do indeed wear your bra too tight, and that would rule out having to have a colonoscopy too! LOL! All you'd need then was a good bra fitting. If you do that, let me know how that goes. Its something I have always been too chicken to go do. I've always wondered if I am like one of those clueless women on Oprah who've been walking around in a bra that is 16 sizes off. LOL!

A few years back, I decided I really needed a couple new bras. Well, I had been wearing 34B for many years, so I went to the store and picked out the style I liked in a 34B. I decided to try it on, not necessary, but why not! LOL That thing came no where near fitting around! LOL I ended up buying 40 instead of my "same ole"34! That just goes to show how far old elastic can stretch!

BTW, How old is yours? LOL

They were going to have me wear one recently. I would have worn it for a couple of weeks. You unplug it when you want to bath. Evidently it calls home when something irregular shows up. Years and years ago I did wear one because of palpitations, it was an over night one. I had to keep a detail list, like climbing stairs, watching TV, etc.. He said my heart does something unusual when I exert myself, but it was nothing to worry about.

About the bra, I think it is the root of all problems. LOL it is torture for me and I think aging causes it. I didn't have a problem when I was younger. They hurt like crazy and they have to fit tightly or you have a problem when you raise your arms. I was fitted and it didn't make any difference. I wear a camisole now and it's wonderful except it is a little hot in the summer.

Had one called King of Hearts and wore it for 30 days. Had to press a button when I had an event. Nothing showed up but later had some blood work done and found pretty significant anemia. Fixed the anemia and the fluttering went away.

I wore one when I was having problems, walking, breathing etc. Don't remember how long I had it. You need to watch
the batteries don't run down. The long and the short of it
is the monitor reported a problem...contacted my Dr. I now
have a pace maker and life is much better.

I wore one (a heart monitor, not a bra, although I wore that, too) about 20 years ago. I figured out I could trigger the palpitations and PVCs ("skipped beats") by eating candy. Sugar has always done wicked things to me. I'm pretty good at avoiding it.

Drinking milk will do the same thing to my heart, as I'm allergic to a dairy protein.

Well, I have something going on lately... I don't know what. Two weeks ago I went in with bad pain in my chest. They did blood work and an EKG, and everything came out normal. They said, by default, it was probably acid reflux. But I've had pain three times since, and it definitely isn't acid reflux. The worst time was four days ago, when, at 5:00, I had a sudden pain in my chest like a hammer hit it. It was severe, and breathing exacerbated it, for about 25 minutes. There would have been no way I could have driven myself to the hospital. Afterwards, I just had some minor pain and it eventually cleared up. Now I know it wasn't a heart attack because of the investigations they had done only a few days ago, but I don't like it- whatever it is.

I wore one about 6 years ago; a Halter Monitor. It recorded every skipped beat; I didn't have to write anything down. I only wore it for 2 or 3 days. I also had a stress test. The doctor told me to stay away from caffeine and see if that helped the palipations. IT DID!!

My dd was given one her freshman year of college because she started having a racing heartbeat--one time it even woke her from sleep. Nothing came of it, but a short time later we realized she was taking two of the same asthma drug, Advair and Seravent and in my mind, that probably was the problem. It wasn't her regular doc who prescribed the second one, and he/she obviously didn't look at the chart very well. I was so mad I wrote a letter (could have been dangerous,) and had a lonnnnnggggg conversation with the head pharmacist who was very concerned, and realized this had also been a problem with the pharmacy.

Anyway, have you been taking the Advair for a long time? Did you check the side effects carefully? Just a thought. Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, I wore one after I had palpatations so bad that I was going nuts. Turned out I had delayed beats every other beat which felt like I was dying. I was put on a beta blocker (seconal) to regulate the heart beat and I stayed on it for two years. Then one day I was reading through my journal that I've kept since I was 16 and realized that I was put on Fosamax two weeks before the palps started so I stopped the Fosamax after having my son, a biologist, find out if there were incidences of sinus rhythm palps with Fosamax and sure enough, the answer was yes. I weaned myself off the seconal (with drs. okay) and the condition never returned.

I wore one a few years ago when I was suffereing from skipped beats and light headedness. It turned out that because I had lost a bunch of weight, my bp meds were too strong and also I needed to take potassium supplements. Took care of it.

Hubby now is on advair for COPD and smokes.. duh !!!! He nearly passed out one day and I got him to ER. They put him right on the ol oxygen and he came around ok. They said he wasn't getting enough oxygen and for him to start breathing fresh air or oxygen.. He came within minutes of going into cardiac arrest..

Years ago I did a 'bra fitting consultation'. Wasn't very useful. I've worn 36DD for years and have the grooves in my shoulders to prove it. I'm shrinking now though, and am 36D. Well, that's what my five-year-old ratty-looking Vanity Fair underwires say they are! LOL

I haven't smoked for 35 years and never did smoke more than five a day. I use only Advair for the asthma. Seravent did absolutely zip for me when I tried it.

My non-allergic asthma came on within a month after my mother died of leukemia -- along with sinus problems and a sensitivity to aspirin. (It's some noted doctor's triad of symptoms.) I had pneumonia for the first time Feb. 2009. Had a biopsy to look at some 'stuff' in one lung -- negative for cancer; it was just 'there'.

I drink half coffee half milk in the a.m. and one cup of tea with sugar in the afternoon. I do eat chocolate, but only one or two small pieces in any day.

MD had prescribed iron (Slow FE) when I complained that my hair seemed to be falling out at a faster rate. (The KT helped by explaining that could have been from the fever and drugs for the pneumonia.) He's told me to continue taking it. Anyway, these *whoops* episodes pre-date that. Blood work last week was normal.

I guess all I can do right now is roll up my sleeves, loosen my bra and slap on the heart monitor. I sure hope medication would help -- not looking for a ninth surgery if I need a pacemaker.

MGM had 'a bad heart'. She lived to 93, but it was mostly just surviving, not 'living'. I'm an 'only', as was my mother, so thre's scant 'family medical history'.

DH wore one several different times and it never showed anything. They finally decided to do a implantable one and it showed there was something wrong big time. He now has a pacemaker. Hope it's nothing for you.
