since it is a cool day here, I am in the mood for something comfy... so I am making a beef stew. We actually turned on the heater this morning. First time we have turned it on before mid oct in years! Wonder if it is going to be extra cold winter....

Turkey burgers piled with sauteed onions and mushrooms. Will have an arugula salad with my garden tomatoes and mozzarella balls. My tomatoes are winding down, sad to say, like the rest of our little garden.

Turkey salisbury steaks, mashed potatoes w/gravy, and mixed vegetables. Wouldn't have minded having some of rhizo's salad. I don't have a garden but am already missing the fruits and vegetables from the roadside stand I go to.

My neighbour and friend brought over a pot of split-pea and ham soup. Ham with the bone is on sale this week, and we both bought one.

Ever since it was mentioned a few weeks ago about ham and potatoes and beans, I've been craving that.

Rhizo and Shirley, how do you keep the ground turkey from being dry? Glenda, it was warm enough to be outside for lunch today, but our mornings are chilly.

Pam, my dish is made with gravy so there's no problem with it being dry. Plus I mostly use 93/7 ground turkey.

Yes, jasdip, when I have fresh green beans, I make the ham, green beans and potatoes. Split pea soup sounds awfully good.

i did a whole chicken in the crockpot. we will have mashed potatoes and gravy and i'm not sure what vegetable. hope you all have a good night.

Shirley, how do you do it? It says to boil the ham 2 hours, so do you just add the beans and potatoes about 20 minutes before it's done?

Usually I roast these hams, with scalloped potatoes, etc.

I do mine in the pressure cooker. I just use ham pieces or slices, and put everything in at once. If it were me doing a ham like you are using, I'd go ahead and do it with the scalloped potatoes. Then use leftover ham to do the green beans, etc.

But there's no reason you couldn't do it like you asked. Sounds good to me. I'd probably cook the potatoes and beans about 30 minutes as I like my green beans done.

We had Hot and Sour soup, General Tso's chicken and Orange Beef. It was really good. That's one thing about DH. All I ever have to say is, do you want to go out for dinner and he's Johnny on the spot. On the other hand, if he says it to me, I generally say I don't think so. In my defense, he just has to throw on some long pants and shoes. Me on the other hand, has to fix the hair, change the clothes, and put on make-up. Sometimes it's too much of a bother. I had to get a hair cut late this afternoon so it seemed like a good idea tonight.

Just had the biggest boy take chicken breasts and steaks off the grill...I toasted a loaf of french bread...and have a huge salad on the counter...

At the beach with daughter and her family. She made couscous with pine nuts, chicken tenderloins with alfredo sauce and garlicky green beans. Yum

I'm making pulled pork in the crock pot!

I have to pick up a cabbage for slaw, and some yummy bread rolls.

I wish I had time and energy to make home made rolls, but that's not happening any time soon.

I made chicken pot pie, minus the pie. I really wanted it, but carbs just make me huger than huge these days. I guess it was chicken pot pot. Or soup. Or chicken stew. Carrots and potatoes boiled in chicken stock. Drained and added to new chicken stock and skim milk, along with onions I'd softened, cubed chicken breast, and some peas. Pretty passable even without "cream of anything" added. I did thicken it with a roux from 2T butter and 2T flour. Fairly decent on the health meter. Not steamed kale and grilled fish, but better than fat filled and carb covered. I'm working on it!
