The Boys, my have they grown...

Lilliepad asked if the pic I posted on the L is of my baby..

Indeed..here's a shot of him on that same day.

Kamren is now 10 and going in the 5th grade on Wednesday.

and Kellan.. This is from July on his first game of Little League All Stars Districts. He is 13 and going into 8th grade. However he is taking 3, 9th grade classes. :>)

and the Big Boy..

Kian is 18, graduated and not yet made a decisions about his future. He's my biggest struggle. But I am proud of the good things he does.

Yes, thyme2dig, the Oakes that sells daylilies. I love having the tags, because they never fade, and I don't forget the plant's name. You can get any kind of name on the tag, it is created when you order it. I preferred the black background with white writing (engraved on the tag) but there is a white on dark green option as well. Kathy, these bushes, Midnight blue, usually bloom in smaller clusters. this is a first for the bush. Here is a picture of a Betty Ford daylily bloom with most of the tag visible, and more easily seen. The asterisk indicates that Betty Ford is a tet rather than a dip if I decide to do a little "pollen dabbing" (hybridizing). (It does need washed a bit:)) I have had some of these labels for five years, and they have not deteriorated any at all. kay

My Dad planted a small container Autumn Blaze (from Lowes) in my yard back in 2006 when we first moved into our home. It has been a joy to watch this tree grow and I started taking a picture each year (around 2008) of this tree and all my others to chart their growth. This has been the fastest by far! Here comes 9 years worth of pictures..... :) This is when it could have used some pruning to keep from establishing multiple leaders...... I missed this opportunity as you will see in the pictures to follow (these multiple leaders get very large very fast....) One of the Cherry Tree's on the right was removed in the Fall of 2013, so the one you see in this picture is a different one. A few more pics to follow

It is a physiological condition called Yellow Shoulder (imagine that :) and has several contributing factors - periods of excess heat that prevents lycopene production, sunscalding due to insufficient cover of the fruit due to over-pruning, insufficient potassium or a mal-distribution of potassium in the fruit due to inconsistent soil moisture levels, and a lack of sufficient boron and magnesium or other micro-nutrients. The cells in that portion of the fruit are malformed resulting in excessive hard tissue development with poor circulation. Container grown fruit is much more prone to it and some beefsteak-type are also more prone because of their wide-shoulder shape. You can Google 'Tomato Yellow Shoulder" for many more details. Unfortunately there is no cure but there are things one can do to mitigate its development such larger containers to better stabilize soil moisture levels, heavy mulching of plants, better watering patterns, more frequent supplemental feedings that contain higher levels of K as well as the micro-nutrients, and providing better plant cover for the fruits. Unfortunately it begins early in the fruit development so the symptoms are not always apparent until it is too late to correct it. Dave

Yes Jodi, 10 ..he was 16 months when we met.

And now he's a smidge shy of 5' and weighs 94 lbs.

They are all really good looking! I love their names; especially "Kian". Had never heard of that before; love it! I have a "struggle" too; but mine is 22!!! :(

Terri, I've always thought your boys were cuties. Now, they are just darn good looking young boys! :)

I know you're proud of all 3. With time, I know you're hoping Kian will be less of a struggle.

Lilliepad~Fortunately for your DGD sake..I'll decline the hook up..He needs to GROW UP a lot..and I wouldn't wish him on any young lady!
For those of you that know part of the struggle..He is doing good so far..next step is a job..maybe Barber School in a few months...I sure wish he was able to play baseball though. His true love.

I can not believe they are this old now- I am just in awe. Your oldest and my youngest were the same age, I mean are the same age. So somewhere in the back of my feeble brain I knew this.

They are quite the group of handsomeness. I bet that phone rings off the hook!

They're great looking kids. I know you're proud of all of them. They sure grow up so fast, don't they!? (Well, at least their BODIES do! LOL) We have a couple of grandkids in big bodies and they're still not too grownup! LOL

Well, I just got OLD in a hurry!!! They are a handsome handful!!! Thank you so much for posting..I'm printing the pictures to replace some that I had from when Kamren was a little boy. It has been so much fun watching them grow up!

My gosh where does time go? I know it is no consulation when it is your own, but most kids at 18 are still unsure of their futures, but they usually get it right in time. LOL

Jaybird..yep Jillian is still around too...today she is very unhappy with me, because...well, we walk nearly every day..and the weather has been non conducive...and she's missed 2 days/mornings in a row..she doesn't know yet that we will be walking this evening.. Taken a few days ago..
