I got some several years ago from Current, no clear lids and they hold large cards with dividers and labels.

Just a thought, Staples, and Office Max sell boxes also, along with some Dollor Stores

Have you tried any local printers, locally owned and operated?

Even my small town has 2 of them and they put a binding of sorts on a book of mine so it would lay out flat. I imagine they could maybe handle your needs.

Do you have a card or party store nearby? They used to sell those type of boxes at 'The Paper Factory'.

chemocurl, yes there is a local printing shop just up the road but not sure he's still in business. I'll check, it's worth a try.

One day I spent hours looking at templates for boxes, the ones you can print out and then cut and tape together; but none were big enough. I'd have to use legal card stock to use a big template (if they make card stock that big). Still would like a nice white cardboard box with lid so I could paint or attach a pic to the lid if if choose.

I am clueless here on what would work. But have you checked the gift boxes they have out at Christmas time? You get a flat package of 3 or 5 boxes depending on the size and then unfold them to make the box. I know they make assorted sizes but darn if I know what size they make! LOL They have plain white ones and Christmas designs also.
Maybe I wasted your time even mentioning it but thought it was worth a try.

You might try Michael's and/or AC Moore. I believe both sell plain boxes in many sizes for crafters to paint or otherwise decorate.

Just thought of something, I gave away my card boxes and put my greeting cards with the envelopes in a 17 quart container. Bought it at KMart, like Rubbermaid container. Then made my own dividers. For the tabs I used the 1/2 inch wide Avery Labels. But these are clear all the way around. I do not have a top because they are taller than the box. Just a suggestion.

Oops, maybe I didn't clarify. I make greeting cards from my garden photos,ect via my printer, on 8 1/2 X 11" card stock. I fold the sheet of card stock in half and it makes an 8 1/2" by 5 3/4" card. Then I buy envelopes for them at Staples. I'd like to make boxed sets of these cards to give away as gifts. I'm not looking for storage boxes to keep the cards in.

mariend, I actually did think of buying some inexpensive boxes of Christmas cards at Odd Lots today and then throw away the cards (or give away) and use the boxes for mine. But - they all had clear vinyl lids! Plus not quite big enough.

Some good sites posted, thanks; but nothing looked like what I had in mind, plus the size is the key since I used regular size card stock. If I made the cards note size, it would easier to find a box; but I like the larger cards.

Someone else posted that site, Kat but I guess I didn't see those boxes in that size. They would would work I think, as long they are deep enough to hold appx.10 cards with envelopes. Plus it looks like the minimum purchase is 100ct. at $.67 ea. Anyway, I bookmarked that site and will think about it. Thanks very much.

The pillow box isn't exactly the shape I want. But I was thinking I might be able to use a folder-type shape - cards on one side, envelopes on the other.

Schoolhouse, You said Pat Catan's so I had to look at your page. To me, that ment OHIO! They have a scoring board that you can use to make your own boxes. I forget what the scrapbookers call it. Remember the old Aleene's craft shows on tv? Aleene's daughter Tiffany sometimes posts at the craft and dec forum here at the garden web. You might try over there for ideas, too. Tiffany might even be able to help you with the measurements to make what you want. I have one of the box makers that they used to have on the show, but am not sure where it is, and am 600 miles from home so can't look for it. Also, I don't know what part of Ohio, but if you are near Brunswick, try Hollo's Paper. I am not affiliated with them, but get lots of my card stock from them. They have an amazing, ever changing stock of "stuff"! Not just paper, but envelopes, boxes, party supplies, art supplies, scrapbook stuff..... you get the idea! Hope this helps.

What about the boxes you buy to store photos in? They would be acid free, and that would be great for the cards. Not sure about the sizes of those boxes. Last time I got them was at a camera store.

Try your local Michael's csarft store. I've found lots of empty boxes there, suitable for gifts,cookies,etc.

tammi, I'm miles away from Brunswick but I know of it. Used to drive clear to Medina to shop for antiques alot. I watched a video online of some lady making a box out of cardstock. She did it so quickly and neatly! I'd have to adjust the measurements she used because I need a bigger box. In fact, I almost bought a board similar to the one she was working on at Pat Catans but couldn't figure out how to use it! Neither could the clerk! ha. I was horrible in math at school. :(

socks, I never saw boxes for storing photos unless you mean the long deep ones like files? No camera stores about here except Best Buys,and I've never seen boxes there. Worth a check tho.

Have you checked with all the different companies that sell wedding announcements, or the companies that make up memorial leaflets, or companies that sell supplies for calligraphy? A lot of calligraphers do their one boxing too. Just some thoughts. Good luck.

Well Ellen, that is a very creative idea. Why not indeed? That way I could make the lids any color I choose and even incorporate a photo on the lid by running the cardstock I use to make it through my printer. Would have to place the photo just right on the cardstock so that when it is folded it comes out in the middle of the "lid". I'm ready to give it a try! Thanks.

So far, I've only made half fold cards using my garden photos. I'd like to try smaller note-sized cards but have to figure out how to reduce the pics. The greeting card software I bought was so confusing that I don't even use it, just figure it all out with my printer. Yes, it's so addictive, not sure the recipients of my cards like them as much as I do though. ha.

This is funny. I went back to the one site that had 9 5/8" X 6 x 1 1/4" deep, white glossy candy boxes with lids (not clear). I was clicking around the site and saw a place where you could order samples - up to 5! with a $5 S/H charge. The boxes are $.97 each. So, I thought this would be great - I'd get me 5 boxes instead of having to buy 100.

I fill out the whole form and even get to the final checkout with my credit card number when all of a sudden it reminds me that I can only order 1 box of each size not 5 of just one size.. Phffft - thought I was getting away with something. I canceled the order. But I suppose I'd pay that in the store if I saw such a box. ha.

Schoolhouse, I am home, and was looking for something else entirely, when, Lo and Behold!, there was the Aleene's Box Maker! It has the instructions in it, so I am sure we can figure this out. I bet the score-it board at Pat Catan's would work the same way. I think I am going there tomorrow, so will try to remember to look at it and see how similar it is. If it is, give me the dimentions that you need, and I will see if I can make it with the directions I have. If it will work with the board Catan's has, we can get you making your own boxes real soon!

May I ask which direction you are from Brunswick? I am north west of there, by about 45-60 minutes.

Hi Tammi, I had made myself a note to check back with you on the 20th.; but here you are. I am down on the other side of Wooster.

I appreciate any help. The ideal size for the card boxes would be 9" long by 6" wide, by at least 2" deep. That means we would have to have a piece of card stock bigger than 8 1/2" X 11" to start with. Does the score-it board even accommodate that big of a sheet of paper? The one I looked at didn't appear to, but then I don't know anything about using one.

Still have my heart set on those "glossy candy boxes" at that one site. I even called the other day and asked if I could buy less than 100. He flat out said, "No, 100 only". I pleaded a little. "No, orders of 100 only". Shoot. I don't even have 100 friends to send boxes of cards to!
