We Better Start Planting Vegetables & Taters!

Marilyn's post on the food stamp thread reminded me of a program I saw a couple of weeks ago.

It was called "After Armageddon", & it was about the collapse of civilization when a pandemic hits, but its lessons can be applied to any hardship/crisis/recession we experience.

In the storyline, so many people die from a plague-like disease that there aren't enough people left to run things, so there's no electricity, no running water, no trucks bringing food to the supermarkets.

City dwellers who survive the plague starve to death.

So often, we think we're self-sufficient, but it only takes an illness or an accident to turn our world upside down.

Jody's injury hasn't destroyed him & Marilyn because they're extremely self-sufficient.

Since I don't live on the water (& don't know that I'd be able to catch or clean a fish even if I did), I think I'll go plant some taters.

What're you gonna do to make sure you eat this winter?
