Have wanted a steam mop for a looooong time, and there have been a few recent posts about them that only served to make me drool more, lol!

So Friday evening after work I set out on a mission. Started looking at BJs (had a free membership which I won't renew, I wasn't impressed) and they had one for $70. I contemplated it, put it in the cart and took it back out a few times, but I recalled seeing it on sale elsewhere a few weeks ago so I eventually walked out without it.

Went to WalMart, they did not have any.

Went to Linens N Things (they're going out of business in my town and were having a 30% off sale) but no luck there either. It was 8:45 and my hiney was DRAGGING but I was bound and determined, lol! (We had 2 showings yesterday and I was going to have spotless floors if it killed me, lol!)

So as a last ditch effort I went across the street to Bed Bath & Beyond. Right there, in the middle of the entrance, was a display FULL of them. Just staring at me, taunting me with their $99 price tag. I kind of just stood there, exhausted and defeated, as $99 was waaaaay out of my budget - I think my lip was quivering and I'm sure my eyes were tearing up, lol. Bless her little heart, the gal at the service desk noticed me and said that she noticed my interest in the Sharks and I told her that yes, they were nice but beyond my budget. Believe it or not, she said that they had some "scratch and dent" boxes behind the counter, nothing wrong with them other than dented or torn boxes, for $60. THEN it got even better, she asked if I had any coupons (!!!) and I remembered the Linens N Things coupon in my car - not only expired but from a competitor, she said it was no problem - so I ended up paying $40. Can ya believe it???!!!

I love happy endings :-)

and ps - LOVE this mop! I had a hard time at first with my linoleum because there was mop & glo buildup, but after that it was a breeze!

Unfortunately, deer are adept at jumping fences and eating the plants we spend so much time tending. We've put up fencing to enclose our rose gardens, but the deer still get in and nibble on the tender shoots and buds. They nip tulips right off the stems in spring, and devastate certain rose bushes and other plants. Rabbits are another garden nibbler, and sometimes I'm not sure whether the diner has been deer or rabbits. We've been planting plenty of Allium and Narcissus among the roses, hoping to deter the deer at least slightly with the onion scent of Allium, and by planting flowers that they don't care for. Does it work? Not really, but it does help maintain some color in the garden in spring. I think if deer really want something, they'll find a way to get it. We constantly battle moles, mice, rabbits, squirrels, deer... and now the goats are reaching through the fences and trying hard to get anything planted too close! We can't win! :-) I wish you better luck with your flowers... I know what beautiful things you do with them! Your bouquets are lovely!

do not use thin steel pans on induction unless they are going to be used to heat sauces only. a few months ago i bought a cheap 7 peace set of enameled cast iron? because i was not sure i wanted to buy a induction range. i have a 1 burner induction hot plate. any way the first time i used the fry pan on power level 4 to cook some sausage the pan warped and buckled and the teflon burned off the pan. my thicker stainless steel worked fine but is not non stick and of course everything sticks to it and i have to soak the pan every time i use it. i hate it. grin from other reviews i found do not use cast iron on a smooth top range. it is like sandpaper and will scratch the cook top. this ge induction range has thick fiberglas insulation on the oven door. very little heat can be felt from the front. also the door heat vents are covered by the cooktop food will not fall inside of the dore like the kemore induction range does. the vent on there door is exposed and every drip or spill will fall inside the oven door. now if i could find out where the pizza,convection bake and conduction roast touch tabs are. i have tapped all over the control glass and haven't found them. no one so far wants to help me add tactile dots to the controls i can't find. and whats the difference between convection bake and convection cook. there is suppose to be touch pads for both.

Karen, I got this from Food.com. Elery and I both love it and the venison steak works very well here. It's fast, it's good, it's relatively healthy (well, high in sodium but low in fat), it doesn't call for any unusual or hard to obtain ingredients. I make it regularly. Beef and Broccoli 3 tablespoons cornstarch, divided 1/2 cup water, plus 2 tablespoons water, divided 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1 lb boneless round steak or 1 lb charcoal chuck steaks, cut into thin 3-inch strips 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided 4 cups broccoli florets 1 small onions, cut into wedges 1/3 cup reduced sodium soy sauce 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1 teaspoon ground ginger hot cooked rice In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons cornstarch, 2 tablespoons water and garlic powder until smooth. Add beef and toss. In a large skillet or wok over medium high heat, stir-fry beef in 1 tablespoon oil until beef reaches desired doneness; remove and keep warm. Stir-fry broccoli and onion in remaining oil for 4-5 minutes. Return beef to pan. Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger and remaining cornstarch and water until smooth; add to the pan. I think it's important that the room feels right IRL. The advantage of the photo's is that you get a different perspective and an opportunity to see it the way it really is. For instance, my kitchen "felt" just fine to me. I took some pictures for an e-mail to my sister and "something" looked wrong to me. It was the toe kicks under the cabinet base (which are really more base boards, but you can't tell and they look like they should be part of the base cabinets). I painted all the toe kicks black and it's just what was needed to kind of anchor the room. The cabinets looked like they were floating before. And after seeing my telephone on another thread -- I'm definitely going to do something different with that area!

I still haven't opened the one I bought at Costco two weeks ago. I did buy the distilled water today though so I'm going to try it soon. It's nice to see that you loved it.

If you'd waited till Feruary ...would that have been a Feb-reeze?

But don't try raising April flowers anywhere near this area in February, except inside - they'd get pretty badly frozen.
