Plum butter.....tell me your disaster

I have two inherited plum trees in my backyard. They were here when we bought the property 13 years ago. I hate them, DH hates them. They are a tree, I won't cut them down. I've hated them since my Greyhound used to walk on the fallen plums then charge into the house with the beige carpet......"OMG, cut foot! $600.00 vet bill!"

THIS YEAR, I've decided that they will work for me. I will do plum butter (what else do you do with freakin' plums?). I used to call a friend who made plum wine, he was happy to have my plums, not this year. I washed and pitted a sink full, I cooked them down, I ran them through the food processor, I did the recipe,....There is still no setting up. I've reduced this stuff for hours. I seriously have wasted enough sugar, cinnamon, electric energy, time on feets stirring this red batch from hell.....while entertaining and chasing a 3 1/2 year old.

This morning, I've added nutmeg, ginger and cloves. I will freeze it and call it "Pork sauce". It will be good on a ham.......I have 15 freezer bags of "Pork sauce". I do maybe two hams a year. You do the math.

This is why I don't garden.
