I worked with a young nurse a few years ago that had quite the aversion to feet. We were like ..... "What?"... He said he did not like to see, nor touch feet. We teased him a fair amount about that. He was young, nice looking, quite likable, very compassionate, but totally disliked feet. I've heard of foot fetish, but never aversions to the degree he expressed. People are interesting.

I've seen ugly feet & I've seen pretty..... I guess over all, I am neutral on feet. I can deal with deformed, misshapen, or problematic feet.

As long as feet are clean and don't smell I'm pretty neutral about them.

Now if this was a post av about foot fashion then i would have more opinions. Many of them "negative".

I actually like my feet, long big toe and all. All the others are slender and well proportioned and when I have a tan, I just love how they look. I don't do my nails often, maybe just once for a couple of weeks a summer, but I keep them well groomed and filed, buffed and tidy.

As for other peoples' feet- I don't like seeing them if they're swollen or have discolored nails or really rough skin or bulging veins. Not crazy about mens' feet, especially. Sorry, guys- but there is so much foot involved! lol Young, tanned feet are the best and baby toes are positively edible! lol

I just had a pedicure today, and I really appreciate the girls who do that job. Personally, I don't mind feet, but I do think people should try to keep them fairly well maintained. I used to clip my mother's toe nails when she was dying. I was happy to be able to help her out.

I adore feet. I always notice people's feet. Don't get me wrong, I've seen ugly feet and I just shrug and think, "Ugly feet." I love my feet though... and FlamingO's toe that ate Toledo.

I've never given it much thought, probably because I rarely see anyone barefoot. I don't take much notice of anyone's feet in sandals, really.

I don't mind looking at my husband's feet or my own. I do have bunions and I think that grosses certain people out, so I rarely wear sandals out and about. I keep my toenails short, buffed so they're shiny...not too bad looking, I guess. ;)

Just an observation,I don't think Glenda's OP was meant as an invitation to critique her feet but to look at her new shoes.

FEET are not a high priority on my things to think about list but IMO.......................

I don't pay much attention to the look of feet. When I was in Mexcio I had my first pedicure and liked to run into stuff because I couldn't stop admiring my feet! Looking at them now I know I'm going to have to stuff them into socks and into shoes and bid my flip flops and sandals goodbye for another season. I'll look forward to spring and getting my feet out in the air again.

I'm rather attached to mine. Even when they ache.
They've served me well over the years, and I hope they continue to do so.

Did you know with each pregnancy your feet may get bigger, because with the weight, the arches tend to fall and make your foot longer.

This is a thread bringing me smiles, information and memories about my own feet.

When I was 12, my feet were already size 9. In the 50's, there were not many, if any, girls' shoes in my size.

Now, I wear a size 10 Wide and have inherited my Mother's bunions. I've never had a pedicure, but still enjoy wearing sandals and flip flops.

I'd like to find flip flops like Miss Glenda's which have that narrow strap...anything wider between my big toes and the others hurts. I also LUV sparkles...don't know if that's a good thing or not. At my age, I wear what's comfortable or what I think is cute, no matter the size or shape of my feet.

And then there's my DS who ended up with size 15, bless him. :)

I am not much enthused about my feet, but the fire ants seem to like them.

I find feet (and hands) interesting. Especially the feet/hands of a baby or older person. Never have paid much attention if they're pretty or not..or given much thought to it. I find the feet/hands of a baby interesting, because I look at them and wonder, where life will take those little feet and what those little hands will do during their lifetime. Same with the feet and hands of older people. I remember snapping a picture of my MIL's feet (with shoes on) at her 80th birthday party. My husband thought I was nuts! lol But I told him...those feet walked the floors with you when you were sick or fussy. Those feet walked to the clothesline to hang out the clothes of her family....after she'd washed them by hand.

I remember when my best friends son and his wife had their 1st baby, I snapped a picutre of his feet right after he was born. His Mommy thought I was nuts! That little boy just turned 8yrs. old...and that picture is one of his Mommy's favorites! When my freinds daughter had her baby..she TOLD me to take a picture of her feet! lol

When I was pregnant with my first 27 years ago, my shoe size went from a 7 to a 9. It has stayed that way until I had a hysterectomy this June, when I went back down to a 7. Never heard of that happening, only wish I could have lost the two sizes in my hips and butt, instead of my feet lol

Bump, your post brings to mind a picture I recall seeing (it's probably on the web somewhere). It was taken from the perspective of the bottom of the feet, big daddy feet and beside him little tiny baby feet. It was sooo sweet.

I take pretty good care of my feet as I couldn't do my job without them...I'm just thankful everyday that their still holding up pretty well considering all the heels and crazy shoes I've thrown at them thru the years!

I think feet are like teeth, some are good, some are gross. My feet are pretty good for my age (40s). My huband has one gross toe, double wide because he broke it. He will rub it against my foot in bed because he knows it skeeves me out. (shudder) My father is in his 70s and has better feet than most teenagers. He jokes about his "perfect feet".

Feet don't bother me. Mine aren't all that attractive though. My DH calls them "rat paws" though he still rubs them for me so they can't be completely repulsive. Right? LOL!

I like to see well-groomed nails....doesn't matter if they are fingernails or toenails. Love looking at toenails in sandals at the airport. Most, but not all, are well done and I get ideas for new colors. I never thought I'd do BLUE, but have discovered I love it with denim.

And I ADORE baby feet!

I like them - they provide with mobility.

FEET.....interesting topic. It is funny that a basic body part can vary so much from person to person. My big toe is a lot longer than the second toe, so those pointy toed high heels fit me perfectly, which I used to be able to wear for hours. Not any more! Hubs second toe is longer than his big toe and the three kids got feet like their Dad. I guess I don't really notice other peoples feet.

I'm all for them!! My dad had good feet. My mom had awful feet (wearing shoes too small was the fashion back then). I was lucky because I inherited my dad's feet. My oldest sister, after displaying her's bare, discovered she had one of dad's and one of mom's. We laughed about that for the longest time. Thanks for bringing up that memory for me. My sister is gone now and it's nice to remember something so funny.

Never heard this question before and must say I feel just great about feet. Ask anyone who doesn't have feet. I think feet are prettier when the second toe is not longer than the big toe, and of course, realize that's hardly under our control. Podiatrists love feet. Interesting question to receive so many different answers. I love pedicurees and get them regularly.

I'm thankful I have feet. I'm especially thankful on the days they are not so painful as to slow me down.

I have arthiritis from age, the beginnings of bunions, diabetes from genetics, and damaged arches from military-issued combat boots; not to mention years of dancing in high heels...I'm sure the heels did the most damage, LOL.

I also have the ugliest feet in the world so I keep them covered. They're usually swollen, always blotchy, and have broken veins around the ankle.

I'm fanatical about keeping them clean. I use a little scrub brush on them, rinse and rinse and rinse. I check each toe, all around, daily. I have no diabetes-related problems!

I also keep the nails trimmed but I don't polish them. I use lotion at night and wear only white cotton socks. I change socks at least twice a day and usually more. When I go out I keep an extra pair in the car, in case my feet get damp.

DH has beautiful feet. Slender, smooth, pale white. His big toes are BIG, and round. His ankles are slender and well shaped. His feet are much "prettier" than mine. LOL

Baby toes are the best! Fat little baby feet are sweet. Other than babies, and DH, I don't really notice folks' feet, but they don't bother me if I see them.

I would not hesitate to help anyone with their foot care, cleaning, clipping, lotins, etc. It's hard for me to clip my little toes' nails. I have to contort into all sorts of stiff positions to get to them. I've been thinking about hinting to one of my older neighbors that I could help with her toenails if she'd help with mine. But I don't want her to think I'm "weird."

Can take them or leave them, really have no opinions on other peoples feet. Mine are not pretty so feel I shouldn't be critical of others's feet as long as they are fairly clean.

I do know it's hard for some people,including me,to bend over and give the needed care to feet and can't afford to have pedicures.

I have trimmed nails on lots of feet that were in really bad shape, didn't bother me.

My left foot is worse than the right, bunion, 2nd toe broken several years ago and never healed in a good postition, even though was taped in the Dr's office. My foot and ankle swells really bad sometimes, due to bad sprain I had years ago and retaining fluid. Some days it's normal size, other days, not.

I have had to try and wear flip flops to keep my feet dry the past couple of years. For some reason, in summer, my feet sweat and break out in little blisters, then peel and ooze and itch like fury. Have tried numerous things to remedy the situation but the best is keeping them open to air and if someone doesn't like the looks of them they don't have to look.

I've enjoyed all the many replies! I must say the advent of pedicures (which were far from common when I was a young woman) has greatly improved the look feet in the generation that followed my own.

Also, women aren't punishing themselves in heels the way we did. I used to wear heels (pointy-toed ones yet) to work and then walk all over town during my lunch hour in those same heels. These days, women often bring their sneakers to work, and only wear the heels around the office.

Plus strappy, open-toed heels have replaced the closed ones we mostly wore for evening.

Men never had to deal with any of this. My DH had great feet. All my kids inherited them. :-)

Weird, I know, but I can't stand anyone touching my feet with their feet. I once had a boyfriend who would reach out his feet and "caress" my feet. Ewww... I just can't stand other's feet touching mine!

I love my grandsons' darling little feet..everytime I go visit the boys I have to see their feet and tickle them. They are such cute, chubby little feet.
After a few years they lose their charm..but oh, little chubby baby feet...

We all need our feet and feel lucky we have them, as there are some who aren't so fortunate.
I just don't want to see photos of people's feet popping up over and over on message boards.
I also think anyone who thinks they have "pretty feet" is delusional. Some are just less ugly than others.

Never gave it much thought until this post and the "other" one. However, you may have ruined me forever. Today at book club and then at bridge, I was examining everyone's feet if they had sandals on. I must admit, I saw some pretty ugly ones!

Babys feet are the very best, nest would be puppy feet, and then baby goats feet ! So cute !!
I am glad to have mine, I put lots of miles on them and so far they still work.
My oldest son and my husband have really ugly feet, I almost cant look at them. My husband wears a size 15 and my son has really long, ugly toes that remind me of a tarantula !

I have ugly feet! I have had to have both big toe-nails taken off...at different times and different Dr. so they look totally different...and I have a large scar on my left foot where a metal screen door shut before my foot was out of the way!!

Now...ask me if I care? Nope! I wear flip-flops/sandals as much as humanly possible in Iowa!!! I HATE shoes!! If you don't like the way my feet look, don't look at them, cause I am comfy and that is my main concern! ;) lol

Harry's doctors are all at VA, so I see a lot of our veteran's with no legs, much less feet. Harry has PAD so walking has become a big problem for him. We should all just be thankful we have them and thank the heavens everyday we can use them. What they look like doesn't really matter. It's how well they work.

OMG Matti, I need a hysterectomy LOL. I've always had big feet but I've gone from an 8.5 or 9 to a 9.5 or 10 after having kids. At 5'3", that's a large foot, courtesy of my dad (10 1/2 EEE) who also gave me gigantic calves so I guess that makes my feet look slightly less out of place. Except for the size, I like my feet.

Plenty of people have nice feet. Feet don't bother me. I did find it odd when women started wearing sandals to work (in an office) on a regular basis. I never thought I'd come to work with bare toes but I started going along with the trend this year. In the warmer months, you will see very few women NOT showing their toes around here.

I don't like looking at peoples feet except babies. I love chubby little baby feet. My own are pretty good. For someone who is fairly tall , I only take a size 5 shoe. My dad was over 6 feet and wore a size 7 and my mother who was 5 feet wore a size 5. I have a very high arch and have very small and dainty toes. I DO have webbed feet, second and third toe connection doesn't go the whole way down. DD has the identical feet. I don't do pedicures, she does.

I don't mind looking at other people's feet unless they're exceptionally gnarly or nasty looking. As for my own feet, I try to keep them looking presentable, clean and groomed, since I wear sandals all summer. All my adult life, up till about a year ago, I wore a 7. But for some reason, I've had to start buying 8s. I think feet must spread out as we age. My hubby has the worst looking feet imaginable... misshapen nails, discolored nails, and very prone to callouses. Good thing he doesn't often show them in public LOL.

In honor of this discussion I splurged this morning while having my hair colored and had a manicure and pedicure. It was very relaxing and I loved the leg massage. I don't like to draw attention to my feet so I didn't have any polish applied. I bring my own polish so that I can do a quick repair at home if need be. So my fingernails are OPI Samoan Sand. I can't seem to grow long nails so I just stick to with a neutral shade or clear.

Maire, while you were at the salon I was at the massage school getting a massage. I've been going there for years, almost always with satisfactory results, but my two most recent massages haven't been the best. The name of the school has changed, and I wonder if the curriculum has, too.

Anyway, I'm posting here because the student massage therapist asked me the usual questions about my preferences, but she added one I hadn't heard before. "Do you want me to do your hands and feet?" she asked, with a flicker what what appeared to be distaste crossing her face. I said yes.

She gave my hands the usual amount of attention, but I can't say the same for my feet. She's going to have to deal with this if she wants to make a career out of massage therapy.

I, too, enjoyed the leg massage. :-)

My own feet aren't bad except for one deformed little toe thanks to a foot doctor's mistake. I can "handle" my feet or my daughter's feet, but beyond that, other people's feet don't interest me. They are certainly a needed body part and I am thankful to have them.

Thanks to this info gathering thread on feet I am now more aware of my own feet and other people's feet. I will probably be rating feet I see for the rest of my life..LOL.
