game of Spades....terminology

Hello.............I like to play Spades on line. Am self-

taught. Time and again the word SET or SETTING comes

up, and I have not been able to get concise understanding

of the phrases. On line players are more angry than

helpful. So once again I turn to you for help.

Not sure, but if you set someone, does it mean that you made them play all their cards in a specific suit? I play Spades on my computer but I've never run across that term before.

If you go set (or are set), you didn't make your bid. If you deliberately set the opponents, you are setting them.
