If I give you 2 rabbits and 2 rabbits and another 2 rabbits, how many rabbits have you got?

Patty: Seven!

Teacher: No, listen carefully again. If I give you two rabbits, and two rabbits and another two rabbits, how many would you have?

Patty: Seven!!

Teacher: Let's try this another way. If I give you 2 apples, and 2 apples and another 2 apples, how many apples would you have?

Patty: Six.

Teacher: Good! Now if I give you two rabbits and two rabbits and another two rabbits, how many rabbits have you got?

Patty: Seven!

Teacher: How on earth do you think that 3 lots of 2 rabbits is seven?

Patty: Because I already have one rabbit at home now!!
