Saying Hello

Hi Everyone,

I've been a lurker from work for about 5 years. I was always afraid to join because I knew I'd be to tempted to be on this site and more than likely not get my work done.

I've never seen a website that has as many caring and wonderful people as this one has.

Now that I retired a few months back my time is my time.

YIPPEE!!!!! I'm free!!!

May I pull up a chair and join you?

A Big Howdy from Ohio!

Diana

Thanks for the welcome! I immediately went to check the soil pep when I read your comment. Luckily I didn't see any thing of what you describe, but I think I will screen it before making a big batch just in case. Thanks for the heads up! Also, the worm castings I am using is not what you see at the big box stores in the bag. This is literally 100% pure worm droppings with zero added compost or anything else. It's literally only a couple tablespoons per gallon. I'll attempt to post a picture of the bag from my phone. Therefore I'm still considering using peat in the mix. If anything, maybe I'll cut the compost ratio down to .5 making it a 3:1:1:.5 mixture. Will see.

He is so smart. Also the first dog we’ve had that actually watches TV. He recently went to be groomed. His winter sweater really matted his fur so had to be scalped. Looks so puny! I’ve vowed to brush him daily henceforth so we don’t have to scalp him again. Not a good look—pin head with extra long legs, ha

Hi John, Last year, my new Bogota turned out the same as yours did this year (from ETGB)!! I hope this isn't a trend, as I did end up with the correct Bogota from WFF this year eventually!! But earlier in this season I got a papilio instead of Bogota but I wasn't too upset with that switch. This is my not-Bogota last year and it appears to match yours this year!! Your Rosado is beautiful, actually, they are all lovely, except for the last one!! :-)) Mine is sending up a scape currently but I don't expect much improvement but I will probably use it as a blank canvas and put some papilio and a cybister or two on mine. The not-Bogota bulb is huge and is a strong grower at least! And no, I don't know its true identity. Donna

I’ve only had oriental persimmons, I didn’t know there are Spanish cultivars! It’s so great to have a resident persimmon expert and enthusiast on the forum bob! Not many people know about persimmons (non-gardeners and younger generations). Back in undergrad I brought some persimmons back with me from home and showed it to my suitemates. They thought it looked like a tomato and said it tasted like a sweet potato. They were hella perplexed by its existence :’D ah it was great I got carried away with fig fever this season so I’ll need to grow them out before culling and making space for future persimmons. Thank you bob, you are so generous with us here. I want to do the same and share with others whenever I can once I’ve grown out my fruits and plants

You will just fit right in with us. I will never forget lurking for a long time before I got the courage to speak up. Back then it was a pay site when Spike owned it, and it was worth it's weight in gold....and still is.

Welcome~

Welcome - glad you've come to join the party.

How about taking us on a tour of your life-space? ... (call it "Your-tube" ... if you live in a tube).

Don't forget - when you're retired ... every day is holiday! Be thankful ... especially if you and yours have good health.
