I am laboring on Labor Day

I was awakened this morning about 5 by the sound of water running. Checked outside no rain. I opened my bedroom door and yep, a pipe had burst in the hall closet and it was pouring water into the house. The carpet in the living room, guest bedroom, my bedroom has water. The den had an inch of water. Thank goodness it was pretty easy to mop up. Most plumbers are on holiday. The one we were finally able to get will be here in a couple of hours. Not the way I wanted to spend today. The hall closet was filled with linens, sheets, towels, etc. plus my husbands work clothes. All soaking wet. Whenever the water comes back on all these will have to be washed, dried, folded and put away. My DH is worthless when it comes to something like this. I couldn't even get him to put his cereal bowl in the dishwasher this morning. I have a long hard day ahead of me. I sure hope ya'lls day is better than mine!!!!

Oh, darn.....I thought you were going to tell us you were in labor (as in contractions). I went into labor on Labor Day 1973, and my first baby, my daughter Suzanne, was born later that day.

I'd much rather have a baby than a flood. Best of luck to you!

That does NOT sound like a fun day for you. I hope the plumber gets there quickly so that you can at least get a good start on the laundry end of it. I wish you had a little more practical help too.

Jen, You know me, it is never too cold to camp, matter of fact on my way in about 2 1/2 hr for the weekend. It gets kind of tricky this time of yr with no running water in the campground though. We have to bring all water in jugs that we use. The REAL thing that bothers is me is no use of bathroom facilities, there is nothing like a restroom when you need one. Only 2 more months until the water is turned on. The smell of food cooking over the fire is awesome and so relaxing. Eal51----kind of funny you mention boyscouts, my hubby was a leader for years with my 3 boys and camped all yr. too. The stories I would hear about camping in igloos they made in the snow in the winter and waking up with icles on their faces etc it was so funny. I guess thats why we camp all yr, it is nothing compared to all those yrs. he went through. He says he is living the life now, he doesn't have to sleep in a tent in the cold any longer. We sleep in our tent when it is nice out though. Lynda

Is the labor warranty from the dealer or a manufacturer. Third party labor or extended warranties are problematic. If it's a dealer only warranty, it's only as good as the dealer is willing to stand behind it. Get the warranty in writing and specifically understand all exclusions. That's the best advice I can offer. The big ticket items as far as replacement goes of course would be the compressor in the outdoor condenser and var speed blower motor inside air handler. Most of the electronics can be pricey to replace but the labor generally is not a big factor. Leaking coils can be an issue. And not meaning to scare you but Lennox is behind the curve in this area as far as best material. The difference between the labor warranty may be more of a selling tool. I personally would lean toward the dealer you have the most confidence in as far as a good install. IMO

Thanks all! The finished squares are 1.25", overall it's 50" square. The next one I make I'll buy a jelly roll or the smaller one, the honey bun' I think that's just 1.50". Too much cutting of white and I think that was my error, along with a turned block... Marsha, you are farther along than me, I just finished lesson 2. For me, I'll start off with the straight line, .50" apart. I have a Bernina, sooo I'm able to slip right into the class. Good suggestion on the class Marsha...I' ve picked up a few pointers. If I couple these lessons with my Angela waters FMQ book...I may actually learn something... It's that execution thing - brain and hands not in sync...LOL Sorry to read of the machine troubles...I was there with the niece quilt, turned out it was my needles; the Bernina BSR only wants new needles...excuse me LOL... V.

I feel for ya! Hopefully your DH looks like Pierce Brosnan and your sitting by your estates pool waiting for the plumber! :0) That's a happy thought!!!!!! Then more adventures await you....on the yachet? LOL Hope your day gets better and your closet ....dryer.....

Oh my, That does NOT sound like fun. I'm sorry to hear your having such a difficult day, and tell your hubs he owes you something small and sparkling, a deluxe dinner at a fancy restaurant, a new car or an all inclusive vacation......or all four. LOL. Hang in there, kiddo, better days are coming.

Not a nice way for your day to start ! Sorry....and one mess always leads to another, with all that laundry, darn !
My husband wouldnt be of much help folding clothes either but he might be able to fix the pipes ?
This must be why today is called Labor Day !! I agree with dotmom, he at least owes you a deluxe dinner at a fancy restaurant tonight !!!

Look at the bright side-at least you were home to spring into action. Imagine if you were at work or away for the weekend!!! Sounds like a real mess.

Oh no Charlene! That is NOT good! I hope you get some help cleaning up to make short work of it! If nothing else do you know people you could hire, friends,neighbors etc? Your insurance should pay hourly clean up costs I'd think? I know they do pay homeowners for what work they do.

Tell DH if he doesn't do his laundry, he won't have work clothes tomorrow.

I really feel bad for arosegirl, this kind of mess is not fun !
