The Queen's Horse Guards

Party was talking about granite use in a kitchen. I roll out empanadas, dim sum and the usual pie crust on my counters....love the cold surface!

oooo ya! now I want to make empanadas or saltenas!

Castillo San Felipe del Morro, commonly called El Morro; it guards the bay of San Juan in Puerto Rico. Construction began in the 16th century. It is now operated by the US National Park service and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This is where I spend my free time. It's near home and across the street from where I work. San Diego Creek runs alongside the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary on its way to the ocean. Irvine, Calif.

Jodi-

Same Spanish fort as yesterday -- Castillo de San Felipe Del Golfo, in Guatemala.

This shows the narrow neck of water they would put a chain across to prevent ships from passing without paying the toll.

And a close-up of the design on one of the cannons

Jodi_in_so_cal, that's gorgeous!!! Lucky you!

Thanks PartyMusic ... it's my zen place to go. Just love it.

And to make the place even more awesome, this beauty showed about a month or so ago and brought his mate with him.

Jodi, is that an orange bishop? I originally thought it was an oriole, but looked it up and I think it might be the orange bishop. I've never even heard of this bird. It is stunning!! Fantastic picture!!

Beautiful color, but I don't recognize the bird... never heard of an orange bishop, but I'm on the other side of the country. :)

It *was* an Orange Bishop until last month when they renamed it the Northern Red Bishop.

Follow the link below and you'll see more photos I took of the No. Red Bishop and of the Yellow-crowned Bishop (aka Golden Bishop).

They are both stunning birds.
