OMG Ruthie! I did not know that you've been stricken with the big "C". You & I go back may a year here on the KT. Not a bit surprised that you don't speak of your cancer..it is SO you! For all of you that haven't had many years to know of Ruthie's spunk..let me just sum her up for you:

I am so sorry that you have to battle this. My cancer team said that my positive attitude was 75% of the cure. Keep up you positive spirit, you WILL lick this.

Hey what a nice surprise...Yes I'm in another battle with cancer...This is a whole new cancer and not the spread of the breast cancer. My husband made the caring bridge site and I love it. I go every day to see who has signed the guest book.

Thanks for all your good thoughts and prayers. I know that I am going to need them. I have an appointment with a surgeon this coming Thursday and I am praying that he tells me he can cut this thing out but if he doesn't, then the fight begins. I will have to do chemo even if I have the surgery but it would be nice to just get this thing out of my body right off the bat so it can't do any more damage.

I'm with you Ruthie. I'll be praying that surgery is in your near future and success with it along with the treatment plan they set up for you. Thinking of you and wishing you all the best medicine has to offer.

I was dx June 2007 with the same stage cancer as you. Reading your journal was like listening to myself. We have so many similiarities.

I had the chemo/rad combo & then surgery in Nov. Not the VATS (because of the location) but my last 2 scans have been clear so the outlook is good for us both I think. They have come a long way in treatment of this terrible cancer & 111A is so treatable now & even curable. I am proof of that.

I will say prayers for you to be able to face & be the winner in the battle that you are facing. It is "no walk in the park", believe me but it is worth everything that you have to do to add years to your life.

Have faith & hope & be strong.

Thank you all so much. I really appreciate all the messages from everyone. Creekgirl, you made my day ...I hope that my success is as good as yours. I have over 1600 hits on that website and thats so amazing to me. My husband made it for me and he asked me if he could print at least part of my journal that dealt with the lung cancer. I was so hesitant to let him publish the page that it took me about 4 days to finally say OK to it and then I carefully selected those that could get the invite email and because I just hated that he had worked so hard on it and I was being so uncooperative.. It didn't take me long though to enjoy reading the messages and seeing the number of people that were checking it out...Geeze it got to be the first thing I did in the morning and the last thing I do at night so now I am unabashedly posting it everywhere. It's fun to see every one wishing me well because we all know that I have a huge battle ahead of me. Thanks to all of you for your good wishes, here and on the caring bridge site.

Ruthie, I am so sorry that you are going through this. Your Caring Bridge Site is inspiring. You have given a kind of comfort to all who love and care about you by being open with what is happening. I hope you don't mind...I am going to send it to a Niece who is going through the same thing.

Ruthie, I'm sending you and John warm and positive healing thoughts. Stay positive and as active as possible. Keep on writing your thoughts and struggles and cough up a hairball now and then. :-) (those who read Ruthie's blog will understand).
