Price Club/Costco also sells rolls of stamps. And I don't know how, but usually for a 25 cent discount. Not per stamp, but per roll.

Nothing to do with your question - but I found out this week that Walgreens sells books of stamps (same price as the PO). Good to know for me cause I hate standing in line at the post office when all I need is stamps!

Do you want self adhesive or water activated coil stamps? What coil kind of stamp holder is it?

Years ago I worked in an office where we would send out everything with stamps instead of using a postage meter because the owner thought it looked better. We used a widget type device, coil stamp holder that was hand held and would roll a stamp off and wet it at the same time, then cut it and press it all by holding it down and pressing it. It was easy to use even though it sound complicated. It sure made it easier to stamp all those envelopes. They do make stamp holders that work with the adhesive ones too. Just don't buy the wrong stamps.

Do you know that the post office will deliver stamps to your door? Yes siree! You can order them and they, well they mail them to you!

Also in my area where I live the PO has postal stamp machines set in shopping centers. They look like candy machines. There is no service charge to use these machines to buy stamps as the machines are paid for by our taxes. You can get coil stamps from them too.

You can order coil stamps in rolls from 50 to 10,000 stamps per roll from the PO. I wouldn't over order with the price of postage going up every few months. What would be the use of having a nice coil stamp holder to use and then having to nitpick little penny stamps to glue next to the coil stamp? Don't ask me how I know this. :) I still have the 32 cent stamps in my desk. I do almost everything online and rarely use stamps. I used to joke that I will still be trying to use up these 32 cent stamps well into the next millennium. I did not think I was actually going to be right on that one.

Bump, I just bought 7 rolls of the self-stick stamps for a mailing, so I know they do. The selection is limited, though, as to design. Usually I think it's just flag-type stamps.

I have a decorative stamp dispenser, looks like a cat in a mailbox, I just use it for decoration because it would take me 3 years to use up a roll of stamps unless I started putting them on packages.

I only buy them on the roll. I don't think they only come in self adhesive - I don't think they even do the lick and stick in the roll any more.

My current roll has different designs - they are all flag design -but have a couple differnt views.

I use stamps in my scrapbooking!~ Sometimes they have really cool stamps - like the Disney ones or Holiday ones. I always put a few in my kids' scrapbooks. They are pretty - and it is kind of neat to go back and look at the cost of postage and stamp designs. Sometimes they are CHEAPER than the scrapbook stickers, lol!!!!

Do the "Forever Stamps" come on a roll or with different designs?

If you don't use the mail often (like us, who uses on-line bill paying and email for most contact) you're apt to be stuck with a price increase, where you'll need to buy $.01 or $.02 stamps to use up all on your roll.

We have a load of "Forever Stamps" that should last us until 2020....

I don't post gibberish and put up links that go no where. I took the time to provide a link to the United State Postal Service that goes directly to their page that lists all the coil stamps they sell in different denominations, the types they offer, and past and recent issues. If you click on the link you will see that they do come in both self adhesive and water activated (the new PC term for "lick and stick")

You do not have to buy an entire roll. Once of the nice features with the stamp machines the PO puts in malls is that you can buy coil stamps in any amount. Even just one if you wish. You put your money in and they come out like those coupon dispensers. I'm sure they have the machine filled with one of those 10,000 stamp rolls and it just cuts them off at the ordered amount. I am surprises that no one is aware of the PO stamp machines. I assumed they would be in every city. I guess not, if everyone is not aware of them. They've been around for years. Maybe they are only put in areas where they don't want to have to build another PO to accommodate 'direct to consumer' needs.

You do not have to buy a whole sheet of stamps from the PO either. You can purchase stamps in any amount. You do have to purchase an entire book of stamp for those that are offered in booklet form though.

*They now have have machines that will weigh your packages and print out the postage in the proper mailing type amount too. I use these all the time. I was intimidated by them at first but they are really very user friendly. You touch the screen to answer all the questions it asks like; ZIP code? First class? Insurance? Then put your money in and it prints out a sticker with the postage that you peel off and affix to the package. You get a receipt. Then drop the package in the slot. They are available to use 24/7. Since PO boxes no longer accept packages these machines are now only located in the lobby of the PO. But it sure saves time not having to stand in line waiting for the counter and the machine is friendlier than the people they hire at the PO. It never acts like it is tired and bored and that you are being a PITA for asking for stamps. The machine never makes a mistake either. You don't have to argue with it saying "No. I said 'book rate' not first class".

*The PO offers 'tie ins' that the Postal Store sells. Things like numerals for your mailbox, stationary and stickers that coordinate with stamps, framed stamp art, coffee mugs and totes, stamp collecting scrapbooks, ect.

All the answers to these types of questions are found on the website that the Post Office provides to make out life easier. I posted the link. If someone does not have a computer there is an phone number to call with recording to answer every question imaginable: 1-800-ASK-USPS. And if someone does not have a computer OR a phone they can write to the post office and they will mail the answer back to you. This way you can be assured of a correct answer rather than relying on what someone thinks and posts their idea.

My daughter works at the Post Office and she was so upset by the way they release the comemorative stamps...This year all the "love and wedding" stamps weren't released until June....If you getting married in June, you need the stamps way back in April or May, not June...She said, had to be a man in charge!

DH gets the rolls for business mail but I always make them haul out the "pretty" stamps for me to pick from.

There was a postal increase to 42 cents on May 12, 2008. People usually mail out wedding invites six (and nowdays even sometimes eight weeks) in advance. I do not see this as a problem as the 41 cent commemorative wedding stamps were probably all that was needed for a June wedding. The increase was announced Feb 11, 2008 so you could buy 41 cent commemorative wedding stamps get the invites out before May 12, and even save money. I guess there could be a hassle if you wished to mail them between May 12 and June 1, having to add an extra 1 cent stamp to the 41 cent wedding commemorative stamp if the 42 cent commemorative wedding stamps were not yet "in the stores".

Money saving postage tip for weddings or occasions with RSVP: If you are not having an ultra formal wedding, instead of having the response cards with envelopes just use a postcard format. Save money on envelopes! Save money on postage! Postcards are mailed for 27 cents as opposed to 42 cents. Save time not having to rip open all those tiny little envelopes that you get mailed back to you! Just sort the returned postcards.

Do you work for the PO? You certainly are quite informed about it all.

Oh, and our PO doesn't have a stamp dispensing machine, so no coiled stamps for me. Maybe the next time I get to a big city and have to go to a PO, I'll get some. I try to frequent our little local one in hopes that they don't decide to close it to save money, it's the closet one, only 5 miles away. And it's tiny, about 15' by 20'. Twice the size, though, of the old one! lol

flamingo, no, I wasn't offended. I hope I did not offend you by using the quotes. In long threads that tend to diverge in different directions I often quote so everyone knows what I am referring and it is not something from 'out of the blue' that I tapped out on my keyboard. A lot of people only skim threads and without a quote in a post, sometimes posts can look odd or be confusing.

Also sometimes it is confusing, as someone reading a post without a quote assumes that it is solely a response to the previous post above it, and then that person gets offended or is left wondering why a person said what they did since it made no sense to them.

Most discussion boards have a little [QUOTE] button to use when responding in a thread, and it is considered good etiquette to used them on those boards. GW does not have a quote button. Maybe there is different etiquette here. If I am out of line by posting quotes, someone please tell me! I can change. Really I can. I want to 'go with the flow'. I won't get offended if someone tells me quotes are not the proper format here at GW.
