OK - So mownie has probably nailed it ... (pun intended :) I do completely agree that even very strong magnets will not raise nails stuck in the ground... (I said it was dreamy ) So my thoughts are - that the tires be filled with this magical foam and the flat problem is solved. This thread raises a particular concern 1) Kids, trespasser, neighbors hurt themselves on your property - I wonder if they could create legal problems for you... 2) In my area - if I try and sell my property with nails and glass all over the yard... and if it were detected - and it most likely would be when the home inspector pulls nails out of his shoes ... giggle snicker !! Then I would very likely have a horrific time of resolving that before the home was actually closed on... Heaven forbid the DEP get involved... This is a bad situation - did you know you were getting fill that was full of nails and glass ? I'd be freaking out if that ended up on my property !! I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to have top soil brought in and have those high schoolers 1) clean up the old surface a bit 2) spread top soil 3) seed it 4)lay down some hay to germinate the seed. I know that would cost money - but it might be in your best interest to get it done earlier than later. Good luck - Dave

I was fighting with a handtruck tire today. One side came off the rim easy like the original poster wrote but the other did not, and of course the other side was where the valve hole is. I finally gave up an decided to cut a notch in the tire (using a tube) when i discovered the tire has a metal wire loop hidden in the part of rubber that rests against the rim on the valve side but on on the opposite side and that is why the opposite side is easy to pry off the rim. After brainstorming I realized the rim has four bolts on the face of the wheel so maybe the rim is actually two halves sandwiched together, so i removed the four bolts and i was right! I lifted out the two pieces of the rim, put the tube into the wheel-less tire (wheel = rim) then bolted the wheel back together while it was seated in place over the tire with the tube seated in the tire. Its way easier to remove the wheel off the handtruck when you do this, my wheel just had one cotter pin holding it on the rod so it was very easy to remove and put back on, you may want to use a new cotter pin, they are cheap at autozone etc. My wheel was similar to the ones Harbor Freight sells so I don't know if this method would work on a craftsman, see pic

I don't know who told you that about Keeshonden but that's not particularly accurate as a definitive statement. I've been a Keesmom for 7+ years now and volunteered with Kees rescue for a time (left due to philosophical differences); it took us a year of research to choose a breed. (Mutts are fantastic dogs if you're more flexible than we are about size, temperament, and such, but we needed the relative predictability.) Like any dog, they do need exercise to stay healthy but ordinary walks can be plenty sufficient, which is one of the many reasons why we chose the breed. I taught him to go round on a lunge line like a horse for those days when I was too unwell and DH too busy to give him a proper walk, since he was never interested in things like chasing a ball or Frisbee. This is the first house we've had with a properly fenced yard as opposed to a trolley or a small fenced run primarily for toileting, and it's not even very large. Our handyman is Dutch (and he was very surprised to see a Keesie here!) and says they are as common "back home" as a Lab is here, even in dense urban areas. Of course, if you want to get into agility, flyball, or other doggy athletics, the average Kees is more than happy to oblige and bust his furry little behind to make his people proud of him. Keesies are usually far more intellectually energetic than physically energetic; they are often too smart and creative for their own good, and if they get bored they can get extremely inventive looking for something to do, which many people interpret as the dog needing to be exhausted with a great deal of vigorous exercise instead of mentally stimulated. That goes double if they're lonely, with many Kees preferring the company of humans to that of other dogs - they CAN be very intellectually and emotionally demanding dogs. sovra, your friends will be best off contacting a Dalmatian-specific rescue. They can start by Googling "dalmatian rescue" and working from there. A Dal with a history of aggression toward smaller animals (probably a high prey drive combined with lack of training/redirection) needs some serious rehab work with an experienced fosterer before s/he is ready for home placement.

Oh I fully understand that not all physical impairments require wheelchairs, but if they can hop out of a car, hustle into a store and run around in the store, they do *not* qualify for handicapped parking IMO. Maybe they've scammed the government into giving them one for politically correct reasons but the purpose of handicapped spots is for people who can't walk that far. It could be a wheelchair, have trouble walking or have breathing troubles for examples. I don't understand why people can't comprehend that some people abuse the permits. We all know that some people use others' permits for themselves and such. Seems to me instead of going into hysteria over the mention of it, the effort would be better geared toward stopping some of that, but that's just my humble opinion. I don't get why people throw temper tantrums, exaggerate things and then can't even give an example or two to back up their tirades either if they're trying to persuade someone to see their point of view. I do understand it when they throw a fit for the sake of throwing a fit though. I don't understand people who are so thin-skinned they have to take every opinion personally and go off the deep end in a conversation. I also don't get paying $50 to shop and a cost club store just to pay more for many things. I don't get paying $5 for a cup of coffee. Boy the thin-skinned, coffee-drinking cost-clubbers are gonna be ticked now, huh? :)
