lost my yahoo contact list

Hi!

Longtime lurker, but I don't post much.

Anyway...I was in my yahoo mail this AM, and wanted to send an email. Imagine my dismay and shock to find my extensive contact list was GONE! Not one address was there! I have no idea what happened between yesterday and today, and I have not idea how to get it back. A friend told me it would be on my computer "somewhere", but I wouldn't even know where to begin to look.

I did email yahoo, and got an auto-response telling me that I would hear from them within 24 hours.

Let this be a lesson, Folks - backup your contact list!

Check your Recycle Bin first. If it's not there,type the name of the folder (e.g.Contact List) in your search field. It's usually near your list of programs or startup.

Do you have the Yahoo browser and toolbar or just access Yahoo email?
This will make a difference in possible recovery.

Hi! My PC died last year and I was in contact with a lovely lady who had a huge database of links (lol you'll know who you are if it's you) I have been looking online for months to find the name of this site and have only just found it again tonight. I'd hate her to think I just used any information she sent to me and then decided not to send any more emails :( I have changed my email account since then (it was gazreid2003) and my new email address is mummipig@yahoo.co.uk . If that was you please could you contact me, and if not please know how much of a help you were even though I've lost all the info now lol Thanks Gail (who now backs things up after learning her lesson and losing many many charts she scanned into her PC thinking they were safe! lol) xxxx

I have lost my Mother, my best friend

My mother passed away April 13th 2022. she raised me and my sister, as a single mother. she worked 2 jobs to ptovide for us, but we took her for granted as children. When the mother of my 2 children passed away in 2016, my mother moved in with us. My mother helped raise my daughter(16 now) and my son(15 now) for almost a decade. My mother was more than just my best friend, she was my only friend. i have complex PTSD, and she was the only one that i trusted enough to talk about the war with… she went with me to the VA, when i had to. she gave me strength, she always seemed to understand things that other people either couldnt or didnt want to understand… my dog died about a month before my mother did… 2022 has taken a lot from me and my 2 children… they saw her as a mother, as much as me… i go from feeling numb to feeling deep sadness and loss… i don‘t want to give up, but i always needed her support. she died from cancer, after being on immunotherapy for 2 years… she suffered from many side effects, for most of her treatment. she became so thin near the end that it was painful to see her like that… i was with her until the end, and it may sound strange but i held her for some time after she died and just sobbed onto her… i talk to her still thst she is dead for months, but i still wake up thinking that she is alive… i beli my mother is in heaven, but selfishly i just want my mom back… i miss my only friend… i miss the only selfless person that i ever met… i feel so empty, and i did not think that id feel so lost… she gave me direction when i didnt know what to do… i hope this posts, it does give comfort to know that i am not a

I just spoke to the Mail Recovery Center in Atlanta. They were very kind. The box top that I received was mailed from MD not Atlanta. The contents of the box and anything else that MD has acquired from broken and lost mail was sent at the same time under separate cover to Atlanta. I asked why the floor supervisor didn't respond 2 months ago to requests for information on this box and she had no answer. I explained that we felt that it would have been a lot easier to match the broken box with the contents immediately rather than wait 2 months . She said yes that would be true. Everyone agrees that the chance of another box of children's books breaking open in MD on that day is slim to none. If the person up there had done his job all of this could have been avoided. Of course if I had used UPS .... I am on my way to the post office now with the above list. She said they will immediately begin a search when it is received. Thank you ALL for your notes. I am trying to remain positive. c

I have yahoo but I also use Incredimail, and I love it. Its a free program and the format for e-mails and stuff is so much easier and fun, than yahoo, plus it imports everything from yahoo, so you end up with two accounts, that way if one doesn't work, you always have another one.

I backup my Yahoo address book at least a couple times a year. You never know when they might change rules or something and you could lose everything. You're pretty much at their mercy when you deal with the webmail but they do have their advantages.

I had that happen to me about a year ago, but there was a way of recovering it. I just don't remember HOW I did it, but look around their mail site. Maybe even ask Google. I was so relieved to get it back. I think someone had hijacked my account because right around the same time all of my contacts got an email from me that I didn't send. Also watch out if you have an Ebay or Paypal account. I had a problem with that at the same time and it took several weeks to get my money back from Paypal.

An update may have disassociated your contact list "email address book" from your email utility. If you are very lucky, it is still on your hard drive - somewhere.

Last year when I installed an update to my ThunderBird email utility, I lost my address book. Yeah, yeah, I know - should've backed up my address book.
