What a Pleasant Surprise!

DH's work gives the employees points that they can redeem for gift certificates to stores/restaurants, etc as rewards for things like attendance, productivity, etc.

Just a month or 2 ago, I redeemed a bunch of the points for restaurant GC's--one of which was Bennigan's. Well, of course, last week, it came out that Bennigan's is closing many stores, including the one near us. I checked the website the end of last week, and found one near the new house. We went there Sat. for lunch, to unload that one. Comes time to pay the bill and the waiter says they don't take their gc's any more. What? I was a bit annoyed to say the least. We really wouldn't have gone out of our way to eat there, otherwise.

Came home last night and tried to access the Bennigan's website (note, I'd been on it just a few days ago), and it seems to have totally disappeared--as has their corporate website. GRRR!! Not really expecting any response, I dashed off an e-mail last night to the company that oversees the rewards program. To my surprise, a woman called this afternoon, asking if I wanted a gc to a different place, or to have the points credited back to the account (I said either was fine, and mentioned another restaurant that would be okay). She said she'd be back in touch in a few days, to confirm that what they decided to do. And she couldn't have been nicer.

So there's a good customer service story to offset all the bad ones!
