I'm totally against the current trend toward disposable this and disposable that. For example, what's wrong with using a square of old sheet to dust with? It's free, you're recycling, and you can throw it in the washer and REUSE IT--rather than buying a disposable dust cloth like a swiffer. I refuse to buy any of those new disposable products and can't blame you for being annoyed at having been sucked into buying one unknowingly. I don't even by the little boxes of foil/saran at the grocery store--I buy one BIG one at the bar supply store. So far, my boxes of foil and wrap are 4+ years old (and probably have at least another 3-4 years worth of wrap on each of them)--just think how many little boxes I haven't sent to the landfill in that length of time.

Am sorry you got taken. I too would be writing a letter letting them know. What kind of vacumn do you have? Some of the Dysons seem to be pretty good.

NO, NO, No!!!!Don't discard them. Run a knife or screwdriver down between the rollers and pull the hair out. At first, I was removing a roller to remove the hair,and then replacing it. But it works great to use the knife of screwdriver. (Don't tell the Pledge people!)

A pair of rubber cleaning gloves will do the trick. Take it from someone with 11 cats, I'm constantly cleaning hair. If I don't have the gloves on hand I take duct tape and wrap it around my hand backwards so the sticky side is out. It will work as well. The gloves you can reuse, the duct tape you have to pitch.

I almost bought one of those when they first came out until I read the instructions.needless to say ijust put it back on the shelf!

I know I took one of the rollers off once and emptied it out and put it back on. I'll have to look at it again.

I'm not familiar with that particular product, but I had a thought. I wonder if once you can pick out most of the hair, if you could make that roller sticky again by using spray on adhesive that many of us crafters use?

I bought one a year ago and was sort of annoyed when I found out it was disposable. DS looked at it and said he could clean it out. Now whenever he visits, he cleans it out.

You can take the crevice tool on your vacuum and stick it in between the rollers to clean out the container.

Thanks for your tips on getting the hair out of this terrible design item. We'll be working on those, and not throw it out.
I know that rubber gloves work as well, and I've used them.
We have a Bissell vacuum with the separate little pet hair attachment. I'd love a Dyson but hubby can't justify the $500 difference of a Dyson and the Bissell. He doesn't see how it could clean that much better. I'm not disagreeing with him, but would love to test-drive a Dyson.

I certainly try not to contribute to the disposable way of living. I don't use any Swiffer type things; use baking soda most often for scouring; use microfibrer cloths for dusting; vinegar and water and microfiber cloth for scrubbing the glass diningroom table (remind me to never buy a glass table again),use a stainless drinking bottle (have a ceramic filter for filtering our tap water)AND I love the homemade detergent (so saving on buying laundry jugs).

This little gadget was a whim, more than anything.

I was surprised too that you couldn't empty it when I bought one when they first came out. I liked how they picked up the cat hair off the chair the cats use but was disappointed in that it was disposable. I wouldn't have minded paying more money for it if it wasn't disposable.

Mine didn't work for long though. Only one of the rollers move so the fur gets stuck between the two rollers and I have to force the one side to move to get the fur into the container.

I have been meaning to write them too.

I am back to using my vacuum which is out all the time now anyway because I use it to suck up the daddy long legs that appear in every corner under my cupboards of my kitchen every day.

It is so dumb and totally irresponsible for companies to make product that can not be reused. I know its for the $$$$ but if they get enough complaints, maybe they will wise-up. I hope so.

Don't feel bad I was completely suckered in also. I would have never bought it if I have known before hand that it was disposable.
I am glad to know that we can get the hair out and reuse it. My long haired cat lays on the back of the couch..I cant stand all the hair she leaves behind!

Silly me bought one a few weeks ago. They were at the Dollar Store for 2 bucks! I have a leather couch but thought it would work great for cleaning off the computer chairs and the recliner. I was ticked as well when I realized I was supposed to throw it out when full! I will try to clean mine out too now. Glad I did not chuck it yet!

I use my Swiffer dusters over and over. I wash them in the washing machine and dry in the dryer, or you can hang them up to dry.

Discard when full? I don't think I'll be buying one. I do like the Swiffer WetJet for mopping my kitchen.

I tried one too, and was annoyed that it was disposable. Too much work to try and make it reusable.

I just use one of those old fashioned lint brushes with the double sided rough fabric that you brush in one direction. That for touch ups and the Dyson Turbo attachment works for me.

I just ran my knife between the rollers and out came the ball of fluff! Easy-peasy. So now my "disposable" product became re-useable! Thanks everyone!

Well that is good news! I have really been trying to keep away from disposable items myself. Not only to be "green" but as a way of saving money too. I had a friend knit up some dish cloths for me. They have fast replaced my sponge. They clean so much better! They even work great on the tile floor. Plus I can wash them anytime I run the dishwasher. Just lay it on the top rack, let a couple tines go through the knit, place a glass on top and there you go!

I've tried some of the knitted dishcloths Trish, but I found they shrunk way too much. Also the holes were so big, I was afraid of cutting myself when I washed my knives. Might have been just the pattern.

Shame on you for even putting ONE box into a landfill. You should be putting any and all boxes into the RECYCLE container!!

I'd be tempted to buy the mega wraps, but where do you store them?? Will have to think about that.....

Just checked my Fabric Sweeper. Its real easy to take a roller off, empty the insides, and put it back on. I never read the box, I just figured that was what you are supposed to do.
