I used to live where there was a Braum's. Sure wish I still did. My absolute favorite was cappucino chunky chocolate frozen yogurt and my 2nd favorite was the peach. Enjoy yours Moni when you can.

I have 2 scoops but I only like to use one and it is forever getting lost in the drawers. I think my cleaning lady hides it.

None. Ice cream, I can take it or leave it, like Jello. Warm chocolate pudding? I'm in. Cold, pan cooked, with the delish chocolate skin on top? Oh, boy, am I in ! My Mom poured the pudding into a Pyrex sheet cake pan, so there was more skin. (There must be a more appetizing word for this than skin !)

I have 3 scoopers, I have one that was from the early 1950's or before that I use the most, then my cousin bought me a fancy silver plated scoop that is hard to hold as the handle is too skinny, then a plastic scoop which I should just toss out. haha I am an ice cream snob, I want real ice cream and not something called frozen dessert that tries to pass as ice cream.

The missus uses a scoop. I hold the container and dig in with a spoon. When I starts to melt, then I quit and it goes back in the freezer. That's convenient on cool days, I get to eat more at each sitting.

One ice cream scoop that I bought for cookies. But I never think of it for the ice cream, we just grab a spoon. Currently we're eating Checkerboard ice cream, and we cut it in slices to keep it looking pretty.

I use a utensil that I *think* is supposed to be a serving piece to serve salad.

It's a big old fork with short wide tines, perfect for biting into hard ice cream.

I love Braum's, but here our 'sales' are two for $6!

I've never heard of Braums ice cream!

Braums owns their own dairies which is why they have such awesome ice cream and burgers. They started out as just a dairy then, ice cream and the other goodies came out of them.
I love any coffee flavor ice cream, but I always loved the Braums fresh peach shake oh my it's good.
I swear next time we go to Oklahoma, probably in September, I am going to make my husband stop by the Braums in Ardmore.

We have 3 ice cream scoops. At any given time, you will also find 3 or more flavors of ice cream in our freezer. Heaven forbid that one would contaminate the White Chocolate Raspberry with the Bunny Tracks or Cream Caramel Toffee Crunch, so at least 3 clean scoops are necessary.

We do love our ice cream here. Of course all the ice creams or frozen yogurt are Blue Bunny's Sweet Freedom no sugar added.

Moni, I promise not to judge you on how many you have, which drawer you keep them in, whether or not they know about each other or which one may be your favorite. If you need more than one in your life, then go for it! ;)

Only four months until I can eat Roselani's high butterfat choclolate mac nut ice cream on Maui. At home we are 'making do' with Ben & Jerry's ice cream and Talenti gelato. (The gelato comes in so many *intense* flavors!)

Why would you need more than one scoop? Don't you run it under warm water so it can 'dig in' to the frozen ice cream?

I have one that belonged to my mom and was a 40s model with a red handle and a device to remove the ice cream from the scoop. I also have a plastic one that I bought when my mom still lived in her apartment.

I have one ice cream scoop, an older OXO with a thick soft handle. "Approved by the arthritis foundation." It hangs on a bar of hooks that hold other useful gadgets.

I wish I had my Grandma's old scoop. It had a wooden handle and a large stainless scoop. There was a lever you'd press with your thumb. It would loosen the ball of ice-cream In the scoop so it easily fell into the bowl or cone.

I only have two, which is sort of miraculous when I consider that I collect vintage kitchen utensils. However, I never use them for dipping ice cream....I just use a big serving spoon....but I should give them a try. Mainly because I have one of those cheese slicer things that has the little wire and the roller on it.....and I have had it literally FOREVER but I never used it. If I sliced cheese, I just used a knife, but the other day, I used it and it worked so great! Who knew? 8-)

My favorite ice cream is Blue Bell....and my favorite flavor is Fruit Special, which is sort of a tutti-fruitti pink ice cream with cherries, pineapple, mini marshmallows and almonds in it...BUT now they only have it available once in awhile, and I think last March was the last time, but I didn't know and I didn't get any. I don't usually look at the ice cream in the stores and I only buy it when it is on sale, which is fairy often.

Unlike most of you, I am not a big fan of chocolate...or, at least, of chocolate things in my ice cream. I like chocolate okay and an exception to my rule is Baskin Robbins Rocky Road, but those aren't "chocolate things" in there...marshmallows and almonds. I don't like chocolate chunks and I really don't like chocolate ribbons. I always have ice cream in the freezer....right now I have Cherry Vanilla, Black Walnut, Buttered Pecan and Pistachio Almond. Oh, yeah...and a seasonal one called Red White and Blue Bell. That is strawberry, vanilla and blueberry. Another all time favorite ice cream is Baskin Robbins Cherries Jubilee, but their ice cream is so expensive. For what I pay for a few scoops, I could get a half gallon of Blue Bell on sale.

Here are mine. The one on the right is from ~1980, the one in the middle 2000, and the one on the left came home with me from Goodwill a couple of years ago.

That checkerboard ice cream reminds me of some brand of ice cream from when I was a kid in the early 60's. I wish I could think of what it was. We had ice milk, I remember that I liked it because it was lighter than ice cream. I think it was called Milk Maid. ?

Light & Lively made ice milk years ago. Marilyn-I always see those cheese slicer things at yard sale. What size cheese did you use it on?

It was a block of sharp cheddar....a rectangle...maybe 2 1/2 inches wide by 6 inches. I was just going to shave some off for cheese and crackers and it worked so well...I can't believe I never used it. It may have actually been one that belonged to my mother....she probably never used it either.

Omg the one on the left is exactly like my favorite one. Mine has some companies advertising on the handle. I am pretty sure I got it when I lived in Oklahoma.

I think that I may have one ... somewhere ...

... but usually just use a (table)spoon ... and, since I live alone, dig it straight from the container.

I like Chapman's also ... even spring for their "Premium" on occasion.

Many manufacturers have been shrinking the size of ice cream containers ... as have those who make yogurt ... cookies ... and other stuff.

The other day, when the price of one of the 1.66 litre ... or 1.5 litre ... kinds were an even better price per litre than the Chapman's, that have continued with the 2 litre containers ... I wouldn't buy it, cause I don't like their shrinkage game.

Made a mistake, though: didn't call my choice to the store manager's attention.

We never had an ice cream scoop in this house when we were growing up. Most of the time our ice cream came in blocks wrapped in a cardboard container, small and large that my dad used to slice up and because there were 9 of us it would be gone. No room back then to store ice cream in our refrigerator freezer because it was very tiny, not like they are now. My Dad would head to the store or dairy bar right after dinner to get the ice cream for dessert and it was always a treat. My niece worked for Parks & Rec scooping ice cream at a local riverfront park She said scooping hard ice cream was the most painful job she ever had haha

But you peeked my interest with this post,as ice cream is probably my favorite thing to eat.If i could i'd have it for breakfast,lunch and dinner,but i can't,so i still dream about it.

I've never heard of Braums or Chapman ice cream so they must be regional things.

I like the ice cream from Rite aid,special occassion,Kroger brand,dreyers,haagen daaz,etc.The only ice cream i i ever had that i didn't like was Breyers,it was like eating wet sand.

My favorite flavors are butter pecan,Black Cherry,Lemon custard,and almost any other kind.

My favorite is Toft's chocolate chip cookie dough. Toft's is a dairy in Sandusky Ohio. If you ever get to go there take my word for it and only order a child size in a cup. You can't eat it all if you get anything bigger!

Braums is very regional. They only deliver out as far as they can drive there and back in one day.

The dairy and ice cream factory are close to where I live. :)

How many ice cream dippers? You gotta have at least one and a few backups is good planning.

I love many flavors and textures of ice cream but right now, I am on a limited carbohydrate diet that just about eliminates ice cream, malts, and shakes. One scoop is a big carbo load and severly limits what I could eat for the rest of the day. I'm battling blood glucose levels.

Moni you probably could but you might regret it! I can eat a small but haven't in several years. Come and try it!

I use a scoop from Pampered Chef. Some way it works on the heat from your hand, it will work in the hardest ice cream. I have traditional scoop that I use to put batter in muffin tins.Works great, each muffin the same size. And have the small one for cookies.

I forgot to say how many scoopers i have,but it's 3,2 of them almost never get used.

Jemdandy,i still have a little ice cream now and again,i just have to plan for it now.Not like in the past where i could eat a pint or more at one sitting,i wish i could still do that.
