I haven't followed Mutts in quite some time, but the creator used to occasionally do a series of strips that told a story. So maybe that's what he's doing here.

I thought that too Stoney, but today's is talking about corn dogs, the previous had sharks in the water. Unless he doesn't write in order.

"I think all my meals should be on a schtick". I think the pun here is that the author is poking fun at how he makes a living...all his meals are paid for by the schtick ("corny", comical setups) he writes into the strip.

IMHO, not very good, but that's what I get out of it.

Glad I wasn't the only person who didn't understand the seagull strip. Maybe it ran out of order by mistake? I LOVE "Mutts". Amazing how he can find so much laughter and sweetness in a dog, a cat, three or four people, and some other animals.

I don't get it either, and there was an "Arlo and Janis" in todays paper that I didn't get at all!

The gull landed on what looked like a piling....if you notice in square 2, it looks like a closed eye. in square 3, the "eye" is open. Oops.

Arlo was "naked" because he wasn't connected: no TV, computer, cell phone, or iPod.

Thank you Monica, I never would have guessed. Can't believe I hurt my brain cells for that.

Ok, I went back and looked at the whole week. It was talking about shark extinction because of humans. And then the last one had the gull looking out over the empty ocean. So I'm kinda thinking it's referring to mankind eliminating everything out there, one by one. That might tie in with Monica's "eye opening."

"I" thought it was referring to all the food you can buy on a stick now...corndogs, candy bars, pork chops, etc...not that it made that much sense

What was that piling supposed to be then?

Maybe the seagull is food on a stick (piling) for some larger sea critter...such as a shark.....

Is it a whale, perhaps?

He gets an "A" in drawing birds, but I think he flunked in drawing eyes.
