I'm THRILLED that there's so much rain in the more northern parts of California, not to mention that the snow pack in the Sierras has increased. This is critical nor only for gardens, but for water consumption and food by people and animals for the rest of the year. And, the rainy season is not over and there may still be more to come. So far my garden, with only two episodes of rain about a week apart, has probably at most had half an inch of rain. Nevertheless, it's made quite a difference, especially since it was cool and often cloudy in between so that the soil didn't dry out much after the first rain. The roses that were pruned are all leafing out, and I suspect we may have an early spring flush because of the high temperatures earlier. I'm afraid I'm going to become a camera fiend then because this bounty is so unexpected, and I think many of us were in the back of our minds anxious and worried pretty well non-stop before the rains finally came. I know I was. I don't know what next year will bring but I'm going to enjoy fully whatever the garden will have to offer in another month or two. Everything we value becomes even more precious when there is the very real possibility that it might be taken away from us. Ingrid

Mediterranean , EH. There are some damn hot areas in the Mediterranean. My sister was doing a story on these oyster farming women in Tunisia. It was 115,â¦.everyday she was there. That wind comes across the Saharra and it is not exactly Californian. LOLâ¦..As a Texan, I much prefer taking a swim on a 110 degree day than shoveling snow in 0F. I have done both. We are planting brussels sprouts here. Just planted some sugarsnaps and green manure. Working in my cactus garden, planting several small seedling trees and seedling perennials today. Amarillo does get some cooler nights in the summer than Dallas. I think we all get acclimatized to where we are at and it feels like home. I do think that weather grumbling and gloating are ALL due. I appreciate knowing that someone in northern Michigan has a nice moist cool green patch and no sweat rings under their pits when I am in the dog days of summer. It keeps me going when I am b*tching about the extreme heat has shriveled the grass and gives me hope for the cool beautiful fall. Like todayâ¦75F and sunny. Perfect Mediterranean weather. OOPS, a weather gloat. I hope it gives hope to those struggling with the intemperate woes of winter.

I had epilepsy (they now call it seizure disorder). I had my first seizure at 15. I am now 63 and it's pretty well under control. There are many newer medications to control seizures. Your daughter should speak with her doctor. I am assuming her neurologist ordered a series of tests to determine the cause. I know it is scary for both of you. In most states individuals with seizure disorders cannot drive until she is seizure free for a period of time (varies from state to state). She really should not be driving until she can do so safely. It's not easy but it is for her benefit as well as the benefit of everyone else around her. It is normal to come out of a seizure and be very tired. I have never "chewed" my tongue. Good luck

FYI, we just had 20+ Anderson 400 series installed in our new construction, let me advise you that the look like cheap Menards windows. In fact the rep was out today because we were so unhappy, and even went so far as to tell us to glue down a corner of the paper thin coating that is coming up, really, they've been installed all of three or four days and I already need to glue down? They are NOTHING like the used to make that's for certain. We installed the same series windows in our current home that we built eight years ago and have had zero issues and have loved them, which is why we elected to stay with them. The jamb is around the interior you can essentially press ever so lightly with your nail and it will break through the surface and expose the pine underneath it, I have several places on them that are already exposing the wood underneath bc the top coat of paint offers no barrier that will withstand much at all. Apparently this is something they changed earlier this year, going to vinyl to this "painted on" version which they call "fanatic". I can't imagine this will hold up well through the years nor is it "virtually maintenance free" as they advertise. Completely disappointed and trying to figure out what to do as we're supposed to be siding the house this coming week.
