Don't do what I did

We get our drinking water from the artisian spring at the corner. We keep clean milk jugs in milk crates to fill and store it in. I was going to take the stack of empties by the door and put them in my car Thurs. evening while DH was in the shower. I thought I had stepped down to the garage floor and went to step back with a crate. I almost fell backwards. On Friday I was a little sore. We went camping and to an antique tractor show with our antique engines. As it is a show that some of my family about 2 hours away participates in, we got some family time and had fun. But the nights were horrendous! I started with muscle spasms down the right side of my ribs. They turned into knots that would spasm. I didn't sleep good Fri. night as laying down made it worse. Sat. was pretty good while I was up and moving. Sat. night was even worse than Fri. night. I ended up propped on all the pillows except DH's to sleep. I was still up every hour and a half. Last night I spent in the recliner. I went to the chiropractor this morning and am better, but go back on Wed. morning, and was told to expect to spend tonight in the recliner also, and to expect to find more places that are sore than I already have.

The moral of the story: Watch where you put your feet!

It's about time to go find my ice pack again.

Tammy,,, I had a lady make me the best hot/cold pack that I have ever used.

She made a cloth bag that holds 3lbs of ordinary white rice and stitched it shut.

If you want a cold pack put it in the freezer and if you want a hot pack put it in the microwave for about 3 minutes......I love using it as a hot pack because it produces a hot moist pack that is super effective.

And you can't get them any cheaper,,just some scrap cotton cloth and 3lbs of ordinary white rice, which can be had in any grocery for under $2.

Oh Tami, OUCH!! I am so sorry that you are suffering. Hope you feel better fast!

or take some tube socks preferably the white ones fill with rice and tie the end (cut the cuff in stips for easier tying) or get some hot cold packs at the $$ store and stuff them in some tube socks you can freeze them too and also heat up just make sure the ends are tied .

Are you sure you didn't break anything? Perhaps you should see an MD. Don't get me wrong, I very much believe in chiropractic but would want to make sure everything was the way it should be first. I hope you feel better soon.

I sure hope you are feeling better soon. That back ache sounds miserable.

When I ski I normally come back with bark marks all over my clothes. I'm a definite tree hugger. I am in so much pain that I can hardly breathe. That is the way I remain until I get my doctor to give me a muscle relaxer and that is when the healing begins.I take Flexeril. It will give you a good night sleep and you will see that it just takes one or two to stop the swelling and pain. It is a prescription and has helped my friends. You will not get addicted.Good luck

Lazypup and Minnie, I make them with field corn and have plenty, but thanks for the suggestions.

Gregorysmom, I didn't actually go down, it's just the muscles that I tightened to keep myself from falling that are causing the problems. I would have gone to the reg. dr. or the ER if I had fallen.

Maggie200, I took a Flexeril on Sat. night. The only thing it did was to un-knot the muscles that were pulling my back out. It usually knocks me out. Not that night!

I am a little better today. I managed to stay in bed last night tho I had been warned to expect to start out in bed and go to the chair in a couple of hours. I still only had 2 positions, and am still exhausted from not enough sleep, but I only got up once to go potty until 6:30 this morning. Ice pack is on as I type. Had to pay bills, so am at the computer as I needed the printer, or I could have taken the laptop to my chiar!

    Thanks for the well wishes.

Tami, I am so sorry. Please take care of yourself. When I have back pain, heat seems to help me more than cold. You might try that. Most of all, take it easy and try to get plenty of rest. Your wonderful DH will take good care of you. Hugs!
