Lunch with Glenda... 3 pics

Glenda decided to cut her trip to Tunica short. She was staying at Harrah's and she wasn't that pleased with it. I'll let her tell you about it. She checked out this morning about 10 o'clock.

I am going to Paula Deen's in a couple of weeks with a good friend and Glenda has already eaten at a Paula Deen restaurant, so we decided to go to Corky's today to eat barbecue.

Glenda tried barbecued beef brisket, Anna had barbecued chicken nachos and I had a barbecued pork sandwich. They were all good, but we all got full before we finished. I got a take home box for Anna and myself. I put the rest of Glenda's brisket in it too so I'm going to sample it for supper. I brought Bob a jumbo barbecue sandwich home. Woohoo, I don't have to cook supper.

Glenda has left for home. She is quite a character. I just love her and I thoroughly enjoy her company. Come back anytime Miss Glenda.

It was pretty dim in the restaurant so the pictures aren't great, but you can tell who is who.

Thanks everybody you're very nice and kind ;o) Thanks Lydia, Ever since Moni suggested wearing red for support to our Kt friends on Thursdays I've tried to make sure I follow through, and Moni looks fantastic in Red! Aw that so sweet Marilyn, thanks and someday I'd like to meet you too! Silly Flamey, of course we talked about you ;o) As soon as Moni pulled that thumb pincushion out of the bag she said "Did you get that from the link Flamey posted?" heheheh you were sweet to post it and I'm really grateful thanks again! Missindia, that's the nicest compliment for me, I'd love to have Moni as a sister ;o) Ont_gal, DH fixed it for me, he didn't want me to pull any of the knobs - turns out on a Ford you push and hold the clock button while mashing the seek button, who knew you don't punch and poke lol. It's a little part but we hope it somehow makes you feel we're holding your hand when you need us. Leslie teehee! Yup it's cold in Texas today and it was yesterday but the day before that it was a nice warm 78 degrees......I miss Tuesday lol. YaYa, we both wished All of you had been there with us! I'm sorry you missed it but hey there's always next time ;o) Thanks Glenda! Thank you Nodakgal, I wish you could have been there too ;o) I wish you could have been here too Coral, and Moni is great fun! We had a really good time today. Your builder will probably say no because he's a builder working with stock, and is afraid if you don't like it you'll claim he damaged your perfectly good brand new cabinets. But any carpenter, handy fiance, or even the guy doing your trimwork should be able to take it out easily and sand the edge. But really, you could just remove the door altogether and get the same effect. The builder doesn't even have to know!!! (shhhhh...!) Also, there are tons of people in blogland who remove doors and drawers and replace with baskets. One example to help you: go to "The Lettered Cottage" blog and in the search box type buffet table and see one of millions of tutorials on this kind of thing. Layla (at the Lettered Cottage) does cottage-y country and beach cottage looks but it could translate pretty easily into French Country with different fabrics.

Sounds similar Patti. Here is the recipe Glenda posted. SQUASH CROQUETTES 2 cups finely chopped yellow squash 1 cup finely chopped onion 1 egg, beaten 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon pepper 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour Vegetable oil Combine squash, onion, egg, salt and pepper, mixing well. Stir in flour. In a skillet, heat 1/2 inch oil over medium-high heat. Drop batter by tablespoonfuls into oil. Cook about 3 minutes per side or until golden brown, turning once; drain. Makes 6 servings.

What a lovely trio of ladies!! I'm glad you got to get together and enjoy each other's company, even if it was cut short. Anna is a real beauty.

I'd never heard of Corky's till I saw them on QVC.

I suggested ribs to Glenda, but she talked the waiter into getting her a sample of the bbq beef brisket and decided right then that's what she wanted. I just ate some ribs the other day and didn't want anymore right now.

Lydia, I made some peanut butter fudge for Glenda for a b'day gift. I didn't know what to get her, but I figured if I made something with peanut butter in it she would like it.

Really good pictures Linda of all of you lovely ladies. Glenda looks like she's enjoying her birthday even if she didn't like Harrah's. I agree, those plates of food have my tummy growling. Glad you don't have to cook! :)

And the fudge plate is minus THREE pieces which I indulged in on the 4 hour trip back.

Hey Linda, you didn't tell them we had tamales!
They were good, but we thought way too much cheese,
BTW I ate most of them :o) Left off the cheese, as much as we could.

We WERE going to Paula Deen's, today, and tomorrow, Corky's, but being as I cut my trip short, we opted for Memphis BBQ, which I have never had.
