Question about posting

Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong, when I post a comment back on a topic, it tells me that my message has been rejected and I need to change the topic line ? As long as I make a small change in the "subject of Posting" box, it will accept my new post.

I notice most replys back still have the same subject line, so I am wondering why it rejects mine.

We aren't allowed to post two messages too quickly in the same thread. I don't know exactly what the time frame but this happens to all of us. I suppose it is to prevent accidental duplicate posts. Changing the subject line makes us stop and think and prevent duplicates.

Gonzer, if you reload the same photos with the same titles the links should work again, shouldn't they? Nev, there is no time limit as far as the GW is concerned, although I've found that the search engine sometimes doesn't work on threads more than a couple of years old. As for the photos, however, it's the poster who removes them from the hosting site, as Japie said. There can be several reasons for this. Either their account is getting too full and they want to make space for something else, or they figure the pic has been up long enough to get the response they were after and there's no need to leave it any longer, or perhaps they are concerned that somebody will pirate the photos. Sometimes newbies don't realize that removing the photo from the hosting site will break the link and cause the picture to disappear from GW, so they pull it right away. If you find nothing but little red Xs where the photos should be, check the date the thread was started. Chances are it's an old one that has been revived.

Hi Monroehydrangea, Here goes!! First your photos must be in an album, the ones you wish to post anyway..........go to the specific album and bring up the picture you wish to post........on the right side of the page see the words "Linc to photo"...........click that......go to "select size" (choose your size, I use large).............then click on "embed image" just above the size option...........click on "embed image" to turn it blue.......right click on "embed image" to copy............go back to the message you were writing.......and in the body of the message right click to paste. Now, when you look at the message you should see many 4-6 lines of gobbledygook and then you preview the message and if it was done correctly, when you see the actual preview it should show the picture instead of the gobbledygook. If it doesn't work the first time, keep trying until you see the picture in the preview. Hopefully, you're smarter than I was, it took me quite some time to get it correct!! Usually I click down 2 lines from the last sentence I have written in the message box and then paste and if you want to write more after the picture, click down a line or 2 again and continue to write. If you don't sometimes the picture can cover up some of your writing. They have a practice forum for posting picture somewhere, on this forum, I used it many months ago, you can practice there without making a fool of yourself, and there are usually a few people who lurk around the practice forum that will try to help you if you goof........... Oddie, On Photobucket, just click on the box under the picture you want to post. Go to the bottom of that page and click on generate html code. It will take you to the next page with about four options--I just click on the first option to hi light it, then right click on it and select copy. Now open up the forum page, type any message you want, space down a couple lines, right click and select paste and the picture codes will appear. Now click preview message and your pictures will appear, then click submit and it will be on here. Try this step by step. If you have any trouble, just let me know and I will help you. After you do this part successfully, I can then tell you how to post multiple pics too. I just learned a month or so ago, so am thrilled if I can help someone else. Luvs

Oh, heavens, no! Don't slow down your thought process...that could wreak all sorts of havoc! :-)

All you have to do to post again immediately after you've just posted, is simply insert a space after the colon (RE:) in the subject line. It won't actually change the spacing when your next post appears, but it's enough of a change to make your second (or subsequent) reply different.

Whatever you do, please don't insert all sorts of nonrelated characters into the subject line...

I add things to the subject line and I see no reason NOT to and will do so. suits me

A simple space somewhere in the subject line will get your new comment posted again Sherry. Most of us add a space after the

The reason not to is that it is totally unnecessary. But we know you like calling attention to yourself.

Sometimes I've had to try multiple times when I've just changed it slightly. So now I usually just delete the original subject (just takes a quick swipe of the mouse) and write a new one. For example, if that were happening on this post, I'd probably just change the subject to "Post" or "Again" or something like that. 2 seconds of work and it looks and works fine.
