Oh My! A contest!

Driving thru our tiny burg I see a sign on the marquee of the mostly young crowd hang out joint:
"Miley Cyrus twerking contest"
Keepin' up with the times I guess. LOL

On a side note I watched a PBS rerun of "Elvis in Hawaii" & recalled what a scandal his slight (by comparison) hip shakin' caused back 50 or so years ago! Now his stage presence looks absolutely tame.

....and a 10,000 % improvement in singing ability.....

I swear her voice is like fingernails on a blackboard to me! I don't have that same effect with other modern-day performers.

Glad to hear all is well. All medication has some risk of side effects. The key is to determine whether the risk of taking the meds is greater than the risk of not taking them. Sometimes that involves some personal judgement and isn't a black and white call that can be made entirely by your doctor.

I probably didn't explain well, the roses were from my father's block and had to be also transported by car to my place...just a 5 min drive. I have close to 200 as well. I don't mind the pruning, just do it over several weeks. But moving old, neglected roses is not much fun!! Last time I shifted one of this size and age was an old Lorraine Lee shrub also 7ft tall. The successful move of this one gave me confidence to tackle these, they don't mind a good hacking!!!! ;) Yes, Briss I breathe a sigh of relief it's over, thank goodness I had help!! On with the flowering!!! Giddyup! ;) varmi

Imho, she's homely, as is her dad - where they bought those teeth is beyond me. She can't sing a note and yep - she's gross!!!

I thought she looked absolutely dorky. Not cool, or sexy or bad, just really dorky with her butt sticking out, her tongue all twisted and her hair in those dumb knots.

I hope that sign was a joke.

Yeah, Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis, bad boys of our time and now they are so tame! Although, Jerry Lee really was kind of bad.

Why do so many young stars have to resort to demeaning themselves in order to prove they are no longer children?

I'm thinking the local twerking contest will be no less gross, but as the song says, "the girls all get prettier at closing time". LoL

Miley was only so so as a Disney princess. She was only average looking and an okay singer, but she was clean and something you could let the kids watch. Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis had a lot more talent. Not sure about JLL, but Elvis was nice to look at even if you didn't like his music.

Thing is, very young girls COPY this.. Much as I hate the excuse about guys taking advantage because, "She was asking for it, the way she dressed and flaunted," there's danger there. I just saw another headline about the gang rape of some girl by HS jocks. Girls can't dress or mimic tarts if they don't want to be mistaken for tarts. I don't think some girls realize the danger.
